Please help..

Tuesday, January 13th, 2004

No one responded to my last post and I have to
believe that this is the best place to get my answers.
With such a large group of women someone has to know.
My surgeon is no longer with my group and my GP
doesnt know the answer.
has anyone
heard/learned/asked about birth control? I have been on the pill for
4 years and have had very light 2-3 day cycles.
Ever since surgery my periods are heavy and 7-8 days.
Im assuming that my pills arent absorbing and its
just like im not on them at all. I cant become
pregnant and I cant take the depo. Please someone, tell me
what your doctors say about birth control
pills……….Are they absorbing ok. I just had a normal roux-en-y
GPS.
Im also allergic to latex so condoms and some
sponges are out. Its abstinence until I learn more.

My Story

Tuesday, January 13th, 2004

Hi there everyone! Thought I would share some of
my story regarding WLS.

I had my surgery
December 14, 1999. I was 300 lbs the day I went into the
hospital. As of this morning I have lost 91 lbs. I have
gone from a size 24/26 to 16/18.

From the
posts I am reading I have come to realize that doctors
do things differently regarding eating after the
surgery. I started eating soft foods 6 days after surgery.
My doctor does not believe in protein drinks or mush
food.

I had no pain after surgery just
discomfort. I was bac to work in 4 weeks. I could not believe
how fast I recovered and how good I felt and am still
feeling.

Do I have problems. Sure do. Don’t eat one way for
48 years and then expect things to change in 6
months. There are certain foods I do not even eat
(more…)

Hi everyone!

My name is Cherilyn, and I am
new to the group. I have resolved that I am going to
have WLS, but I have a few questions I wonder if any
of you can offer insight on.

1. I had my gall
bladder removed in ‘95. Will that negatively impact my
chances of having a successful surgery?

2. My
husband and I are interested in starting a family in a
few years. I don’t want to put off the surgery that
long, as I weigh nearly 300 pounds and probably
couldn’t handle pregnancy well at this size. How would
having a gastric bypass effect my
pregnancies?

Thank you in advance for your input!

Cherilyn

Wow, Teach!!!!!

Dear Teach, You are doing so well. How are you
feeling? I’m starting to feel more like my old self. I
walk everyday. Today at the store I picked up a
watermelon without even thinking. I dropped it fast!!! I go
back to dr. in a week and a half. Are you very sore?
Each day I feel better. My back hurts alot for some
reason. Take care, Barbie

change in menstrual cycle?

Friday, January 9th, 2004

I had my surgery on 11/5. Ever since then I have
longer and heavier periods. Its almost like Im not on
the pill anymore. My periods were like this when i
wasnt on the pill. Im thinking that my birth control
pills arent being absorbed. My doctor never warned
about this. Does anyone know anything about birth
control pills after surgery?

Cigarettes and WLS

Thursday, January 8th, 2004

I have been advised that I must quit smoking 2
months before the surgery, but am finding it almost as
difficult as losing weight! Is there anyone out there who
has continued to smoke and if so, has it caused
problems?? I want to quit, really–But with everything
else…

Three Years Post-Op–HELP!!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2004

Is there anyone out there that is post-op enough
to experience the "weight-gain." I am presently UP
eleven pounds and am just about going crazy. I am
leaning toward buying some diet pills or something. I
just don’t know what to do. I am not eating
much…..much I am in most probability eating the wrong things.
I know I should drink more water too but it makes
me want to yack. Has anyone gone on the dreaded
"diet" even after this surgery. I have a wedding to go
to in less than a month and I don’t want to be the
"fat" person at the wedding. I was hoping to make an
impression and "fat" was not the impression I was going for.
