Newbie Here
I’m new to this club. I’m considering having
surgery to help me with my weight problem I’ve dealt with
all my life. I’m attending a seminar this weekend by
the doctor that does the surgery.

I have
United Healthcare POS Insurance. From what I understand
the insurance company will cover the surgery as long
as it is medically necessary. I don’t think I’ll
have a problem with this since I suffer with Sleep
Apnea and have recently been diagnosed with Pseudo
Tumor Disease.

Have most people been about to
the Psychological Evaluation approved by the
insurance company?

I have a Consultation Appointment
set up with the doc on 9/15.

Any input,
comments or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheryl

Hello Cheryl– I am not sure about your insurance
I am in Minnesota and I have never heard of that
company, I can tell you what I had to do, one, show weight
issues for 5 years at less, show attempt to loose, I had
to take a MMPI test, and then the DR that I am
seeing wrote a letter and then I had to wait wait wait,
alittle about my background , I looked in to this a year
ago, was approved and date set and I got cold feet! I
guess it just was not my time that is all. One year
later I am more then ready!! This morning I went in for
my gallbladder ultrasound ( no stones ) and I am
having surgery in Oct! YAH ~ I guess I would do your
homework! Talk to as many people as you can , read read
read– make sure you are more then comfortble with the
DR! see if you can find any one who has had services
with this person , do some background checks and see
what other people have to say about him or her! I
think that is VERY important! Other DR can say oh he
/she is wonderful but they were not on the table…
HEHEHHE I wish you all the luck in finding your answers!
You found a great group. have you clicked on the
links on front page? Wonderful reads in there! MUST DO!

Hi Jennifer– Thanks for your input. I’m working
on gathering as much information as I can. I looked
into this a year ago myself and put it on the back
burner. Guess it wasn’t my time then either. I will
continue to learn as much as I can. I’ll keep ya
posted.

Cheryl
:o)
