Hi there!
I just want to share with you the
importance of trying to find a surgeon in your own area…
if you can’t find a good doctor, then I can
uderstand the need to go outside you area… but for this
surgery only half of the care is the actual surgery.
Everything else is the continuation of care, the follow-up
of appointments and a good doctor and office staff
to be available for those first few months as you
learn your new way of life. The otherside is the
importance of support. My doctor runs a weekly support group
for all his patients and any other people in our area
that may want to be involved. Although I can not
attend on a regular basis… I know it is ALWAYS there
when and if I need it! I do also use this wonderful
resource on the internet… I have met friends, and feel
really conected to people I have never physically met!
Here we all share a part of ourselves… and can find
the answer to many of our questions as we face each
and every change along the way. I pray for all those
out there… both those that have had this life
saving surgery and those that have doctors that do not
do all they can to save their patients! I have no
problem with a person being large… but when it affects
our lives to the point of losing it… something must
be done!

Good luck as you find your way along
this new and exciting path… may you continue to be
blessed and may you find all you seek… here, there, and
in every aspect of this journey. Remember, anything
worth having is worth working for… and some of these
insurance companies will make you do just that… WORK…
but you are worth it and never forget that!
God’s

Hi Cindy…..thanks for your response and
support.

I attended a local seminar today by the doctor that
performs the surgery here in Phoenix. He’s affiliated with
Weight For Life out of California but is a local doc. I
was very impressed with this surgeon. He was very
personable and shared alot of information about the surgery
and the medical aspects of it. He has 22+ years of
experience.

I also talked to the Insurance Coordinator. My
insurance company is one of the ones that once they have
the detailed medical history report, psych evaluation
and request for authorization, they’ve given approval
for the surgery. I also have coverage for the psych
evaluation excluding the test fee.

I’m feeling
pretty positive about getting the authorization to have
the srugery performed. I’m in the process of the data
gathering so they can send off the request for
authorization. I’ll have this back in the mail to them by Monday
:).

I have a consultation appointment with the doc on
9/15. At this time he will go more indepth about the
surgery. As I get more questions I will post them
here.

Thanks for all the support here. I finally feel like my
life is going to turn around for the
good!

Cheryl
