And, that is the normal hospital stay without any complications. If you have complications, those costs can rise dramatically. If you have insurance, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your policy. Some people on an HMO don't have any expense, and other people like me end up paying a certain percentage. I paid about 3,000 because that is the out-of-pocket maximum (per year) on my policy.
