Loose Skin

Saturday, February 14th, 2004

Hi all,
Thanks for reading this.

I had
gastric bypass surgery over a year ago. I started at
412lbs and now I’m 252 lbs. I’ve been stuck at this
weight for about four months now. I think I’ve been
halting my progress on purpose. I’m starting to feel
really self-conscious about all this flabby skin hanging
off me. My arms, my thighs, my back, my chest,
everywhere! Everything is drooping … Is there anything I
can do to help? I can’t afford cosmetic surgery, and
I’ve still got 100# to go here. Any help out there?

lost over 340lbs…

Saturday, February 14th, 2004

Gotcha!
I just went to a family party and 2 of
my cousins also had the surgery together we have
lost over 340lbs! One lost 143… I lost 132… and
the most recent surgically changed has lost 70lbs
(but I told her most likely more since it had been a
few weeks since last weighin!) Well as soon as I get
the pic developed I will share it… it was quite an
accomplishment and our family was AMAZED to say the
least!
Cindy
Open RNY 8/2/99

The Weighting Game

Wednesday, February 11th, 2004

Hi group,
For two years I contemplated
wheather I should try for WLS or not. I am a 37 year old
Black female with malignant (as stated on my medical
records) high blood pressure. I was diagnosed at age 11,
and have suffered with it for many years. I take a
total of 7 different medications per day, and my
condition is still not under control. Two years ago I was
awarded permanent disability by Social Security due to
the fact that no doctor has been able to control my
blood pressure. I did inherit it from my family,
however I am the only one in the family who is
overweight, so this adds to the problem.

Last
Tuesday, I had a consultation with a Gastric Bypass
Surgeon, Dr. Sieloff here in Tallahassee, Florida. I’m
5′6, 235 lbs although I don’t look it. The nurse told

Funny~Sad

FUNNY …SAD

Funny how a $100 dollar bill
looks so big when you take it to church, but so small
when you take it to the mall.

Funny how long it
takes to serve God for an hour, but how quickly a team
plays 60 mins. of basketball.

Funny how long a
couple of hours spent at church is, but how short they
are when watching a movie.

Funny how we can’t
think of anything to say when we pray, but don’t have
difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a
friend.

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes
into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is
longer than the regular time.

Funny how hard it
is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it
is to read 100 ages of a best selling
novel.

Funny how people want to get a front row seat at any

Drs. Appointment

Sunday, February 8th, 2004

I had my first appointment with the surgeon
today, Dr. Yates in St. Louis. He said I was definately
a surgery candidate and he would write a letter to
Humana. Now all I have to do is WAIT! I started this
journey in February, sooooo it has been a long one!
Hopefully I will know something in a week! Got all my body
parts crossed! Linda

Curious Questions

Saturday, February 7th, 2004

I’ve been considering having WLS for several
months and I’ve finally scheduled a consultation with my
doctor for next Wednesday. I’m curious about the scar
that extends from the lower breastbone to the navel
from the open procedures. How long does the pain from
this scar remain, and is there anything available to
make the scar less noticeable? Also, is the lap
procedure for the same surgery as beneficial as the open
procedure? I’m referring to all WLS procedures that can be
performed either open or lap. Thanks for your response.
