STILL WAITING

Friday, March 19th, 2004

Hi, I posted my first message to this support
group back in April 1999, after seeing my surgeon and
being accepted onto his waiting list, now almost 21
months on I am still waiting to have my surgery
performed.
Things here in the UK sure go a lot slower than things
in the US.
I have been told that I may have to
wait up to 24 months, which will take me to
April.
I wish i had the money to go private, instead of
having to wait to have it done on the NHS.
Which is
the National health service.
A very merry
christmas and happy new year to each and everyone of you.

Do you need fire insurance? Hello I would like to
share with you some words [verses] and a prayer that
could change your whole life. Please read aloud the
words below.

Jeremiah 31:3
3. The Lord has
appeared of old to me, saying: "Yes, I have loved you with
an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I
have drawn you.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11. For I
know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the
Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a
future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go
and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you
will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with
all your heart.

1. YOU NEED TO BE
SAVED.
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of
God (John 3:3). For all have sinned and come short of

Just a quick up date I haven’t been in much, i’ll
be 4 weeks out tomorrow and i still have my g-tube.
Had another upper Gi on fri and my old stomach still
has not started working properly. My tube has just
started not to hurt, but they switched me from reglan to
erythromycin yesterday and have had nausea and dry heaves ever
since.
didn’t even have that post op. Good news is
that I’ve lost 37 pounds as of this morning, hooray!!
Dr. Sarantos and Dr. Thoburn who both did my surgery
say they have only seen this complication with the
old stomach shutting down once before, good news is
that they said eventually it will begin to work and
they said I could stop the new med and go back to the
reglan. I just hope I can get the tube out before I go
back to work Jan. 4.
Thanks for the well wishes and

My First Posting

I am considering surgery and am currently going
through all the steps that Kaiser (HMO in California)
requires in order to have them cover it. Right now I am
going from a positive position that they will.I ask as
many questions as I can, but no one seems to have any
post surgery information to give me.I am 53 years old.
Is there any member of this group that has had
surgery several years ago, or know anyone that had
surgerymore than two years ago.One of the hand outs the
counsellor I saw Friday gave me comparing losing weight on
your own as opposed to surgery was very slanted
against the surgery. One of the things it said was that
once life after surgery stabilizes, you can only eat
800-1000 (or less) calories a day or you will gain all the
weight back…..That seems really extreme..they also

Thank You

I want to thank all of you in here for your
stories. I joined this group quite some time ago, but
never posted because there was no chance of getting
this surgery due to financial difficulties. I had a
home daycare and did not have any insurance. I was
hired last may at a local hospital and obtained
insurance. The provider was Health Central, and they do
approve this surgery. I had to wait to build up sick
leave so that I could afford to be off work. Things
were looking good until I found out that they were
changing ins. carriers. I have now found out that they
will be going with BC/BS Custom Blue PPO. After
researching on www.obesityhelp.com, I found that they also
approve this surgery. I have chosen a surgeon, and have
my initial appt. on Jan 2, 2001. I am soooooo
