HI!

I’m new here! just getting started - i have my
first appointment with my surgeon on the 15th. Does
anybody here know about how Regence-Blue Shield is on
approving this surgery? sure would like to hear if anybody
else has dealt with them on this.

My name is Cristina Anderson. I am going to be having RNY
surgery soon, hopefully within the next 4 weeks. I just finished
all my tests, so I will be scheduling the surgery probably by the
    end of next week!

I am also a graduate nursing student at the University of Southern
Indiana. I am doing a study for my graduate research class. The
study involves questions about quality of life and locus of
control. Specifically, I am looking at two groups of people:
people who have not yet had RNY surgery but plan to, and people who
had RNY surgery about 1 year ago or longer.

If you are interested in completing the questionnaires, please visit
    my website at:

Further instructions are on the website. There are no right or
wrong answers. No personal information like your name is required.
It will only take about 15 minutes to complete the questionnaires.
Please answer all 4 questionnaires. I will post the results of the
study in May 2005. You can also send me an email requesting the
results be sent directly to you. Deciding to answer these questions
shows you agree to take part in this study.

    Thank you!

P.S. - I especially need people who haven’t yet had the surgery but
    plan to do so.

Christina, the survey doesn’t make allowances for those of us who live alone
and have no spouse or lover or family. Do we leave those blank? When I
think family, I think my father, who lives next door, and my 2 cats LOL.

Just not sure how to answer those questions to which a "does not apply"
    would be the best choice.

Also, are you a member of the grad group? You can be a member, but may not
post until a year out from your surgery. HOWEVER, if you approach one of the
moderators, they may allow you to post the request for survey since it’s
geared for people who are post one-year.

OSSG-Protein is a good group, has a lot of grad members, and if grads won’t
post it, you could post it there. Has pre/post op.

With so little research available on us, I think it’s a good thing that we
participate in these kinds of things.

    Pam
