almost here!!
Hi all.
Well, all my pre-surgery testing is
done, recliner is rented, hand blender purchased and
now I wait. My surgery is on 4/20!!! I am vascilating
between sheer terror and excitement, which I am sure is
normal. The most amazing thing to me through this whole
process is what a wonderful support system have in my
life. I am only telling my closest friends and family
what type of surgery I am having, but they are
rallying around my decision and supporting me like you
wouldn’t believe! What a wonderful feeling to be so
loved.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom as I am about to
go under the knife?

Thanks for
listening!!
Lisa ![]()

Lisa,

Wow, you really are getting
prepared. Words of wisdom. I have tons, relax, this is
going to be the best gift you have every received in
your life.

I am going to list my suggestions
by number, hope you don’t mind.

1. Start a
weight loss picture journal. Take 2 pictures of yourself
before surgery, standing in a door jam, one facing
forward, one side view. Every month on the same date, take
the same pictures. I write my weight and size and a
little bit about how I feel with the changes. You would
be surprised at the changes you will see in these
pictures.

2. Whiel in the hospital, try and get out of bed as
often as possible and walk. Even if it hurts, walk. The
faster you get started moving you will feel much
better.

3. If they give you breathing treatments, do not
refuse any, they are very important.

4. Don’t
hesitate to contact us via e-mail with any questions no
matter how stupid they seem.

Glad you have a good
support system. That is very important. Not everyone has
that.
Remember, there not only will be physical changes, there
will be many hard emotional changes. Have a good
counselor for that. I don’t know if your doctor has that on
staff, mine does.

Wishing you the very best.
Please keep in touch. Feel free to e-mail me

Congratulations to you for having made such a
difficult decision for yourself! For me, it was a matter of
deciding that two weeks of discomfort was what I could
really expect, and then every day would get better. And
that’s just what happened! It is scarey, but it’s worth
doing!
