quite decided which i am going to do yet… the banding
or the RNY…can someone please tell me which is

Hi All<br>Been reading your experiences helping
to prepare me for a VBand Gastroplasty and now here
I go. Surgeons office called yesterday and I am
booked for April 25 (1-2 months sooner than I expected,
less time to worry!!!!!:). Any advice to prepare for
the changes in eating habits afterward. They only
give me my preop stuff a week ahead of time. Am 41
year old married guy with three boys ages 8, 12 & 17
and this seems the only way to deal with my weight
lifelong problem so I can live to enjoy my kids. I have
adult onset diabetes and high blood pressure. I decided
surgery was in my future no matter what and I’d rather
the Vband than a heart bypass or something even
worse. They don’t do the gastric bypass here in Nova
Scotia anymore as it’s too hard to reverse. Anyway gotta

I guess I qualify for the surgury. Now it’s just a matter of taking the steps
with the doctor…and convincing my husband… :/
Hi, I just joined this group because I am
considering having a gastroplasty. I read in one of the
messages posted that you have to have a BMI of 40+. I
don’t know what that is, but I am more than 100 lbs.
overweight. What is BMI and how do I find out what mine is?
I’m back and so excited. Sorry, I haven’t written
sooner.I HAVE BEEN SO EXCITED. Did I say that? 2 weeks
today and I have lost 35 lbs. Can you believe it? The
surgery was a wiz. No probelms. Out in 2 days. I had an
open medial RNY. I am still wearing my 25 staples
proudly like a medal! They will come out Monday.<br> I
feel great. I’m taking short drives and wish I could
bend over to work in my garden while I have time off,
but am still not suppose to lift over 10 lbs, and
bending over is not comfortable. <br>I get tired real
easy and have to head back to the recliner.<br> For
the most part it has been a very positive experience.
I was on Morphine and Demerol for the first 4 or 5
days, but Extra-strength Tylenol after that. I had some
problems sleeping, but the doc gave my some pills to help

I was just wondering how long after the surgery
do you start feeling good. And when you throw up,
does it come with nausia also? That is a gross thing
to talk about this early in the morning! lol
<br>I’be been trying to get in to see someone about the
surgery, but I must be calling at the wrong times. I can’t
get a person. Bad sign, or just bad luck…never
know. Wish me luck. I hope I can be approved by doctor

Just thought I would post a message asking for
ideas, I am three months post op from the SRGB surgery
and am losing weight quite well, but after viewing
some of the photos…and you all look great I must
add!!… I was wondering what sort of exercises people did
post operatively!<br>I have been doing aquaerobics and
have also joined a gym. I feel a little down as I
don’t notice any difference to myself!! OK some clothes
are fitting but others that are bigger don’t!!<br>Any

I am desperate to get insurance, especially one
that covers surgery. I found out that I am too heavy
to get insurance? 5′9” 265 lbs. I am not working
and live in Florida. Please let me know who will

about 180lbs. Could anyone tell me what is available,
what the time scale is and the probs etc. Very much
