pre-op visit

Hello every one, I have enjoyed reading all the
postings in here. I have been waitingn 4 long months since
I was given my surgery date and it’s almost here. I
go in on Wendsday for my pre-op tests, then on May
31st I have my surgery if everything checks out. I
have been wanting this surgery for the past 4 years,
and now that the time is near I’m getting
scard.

I am 378 pounds as of my last doctors visit. He
thinks I should be able to get down to about 200 pounds.
It’s been at lest 15 years since I was that low. I’m
so looking forward to being able to run after and
play with my 3 year old with out having to sit and
rest.

One of the quistions I have is how long does it take
to recover and get back on your feet? I’m a
full-time student and will be having surgery 2 weeks before

the quarter ends. I have an instructer that said I
have to be in class for group finals on the 4th and
6th of June, not even a week after surgery. She is
doing finals one week early and said I will not pass
the class if I’m not there. So if anyone can tell me
how long it took to get back on your feet it would
help a lot!

Hugs,
Dorothy

Dorothy, what school are you going to? If that
instructor is moving up her finals ahead of the regular
finals schedule, she should be willing to accomodate
you! I don’t know how long it takes to get back on
your feet after this surgery (i’m still fighting for
insurance approval) but I would definitely check it out
with a dean or head of department if she is not
    willing to work with you!

    Hi Dorothy,

Well, I had my surgery on
April 30th and was basically back on my feet May 7th,
but working from home. I felt great - no pain
medication needed or anything, BUT I had to remember I did
have major surgery. So keeping in mind that this is a
big deal (as all major surgeries are) I wouldn’t try
to go back full time to anything real soon. The
second week I still felt great, but didn’t push it. I
could go back to work full time now, if I wanted (but
I’m going to take the full month off). You just have
to remember that when your body needs a break, take
a break. It it needs a nap, take a nap.

Dorothy, it’s the type of surgery that makes you feel
reborn, at least it did for me. Good luck to
    you!

The best,

Pam
