CLC, I too applaud you for bringing this to the
club. It is so much of what we hear everyday! I concur
with the others who have replied to you. I can't tell
you what it means to me to have my brother, who was
initially feeling the same way you do, to support me in
this. you sound like a great guy - don't mess it up!

My opinion on your question is that you probably
will never understand, and that's OK. If you love her,
support her in HER decision SHE's made for herself as a
grown woman. And the male member who replied is right;
she will begin feeling sexy again. She will look at
herself in the mirror and actually LIKE what she sees.
Self-loathing is one of the hardest things to overcome in life.
Love her. Support her.

Just open your eyes. And forget about your own
experiences. You have never been morbidly obese. You may have
had to lose a pound or ten, but never looked at 50,
75, 150... get the idea Chum? Your dieting experience
really do not apply. If you have feelings for this woman
you should already understand at least minimally what
she is going through. No body wakes up one morning
and says "Gee, I think I'll have my insides
rearrainged today". The simple fact that she is about to have
this done means that she has tried everything else.
This is an option of last resort. In order to even be
considered for this life altering procedure she has had to
document a lifetime of trying to do exactly what you are
suggesting and never getting it right. I bet your girlfriend
has lost hundreds of pounds already. With most of us,
<!--more-->
losing weight is not the problem. Keeping it off, well,
that is another matter. Look, I commend you for having
the vision to post on this website. Frankly, most of
the people who post messages here are women. So just
take it from another guy who is hoping to be in your
girl friends shoes one day soon (pre-op that is). Give
her the support she needs right now and I guarantee
that she will be more gratefull than you will ever
believe. The icing on the cake will come a few months from
now when she is feeling as sexy as she is going to
look. You are going to be the lucky guy that she is
going to be looking for. Take this to the bank.
