Hey, I’ve got a question?
To all my better versed WLS buds. (You know who
you are.)<br><br>I was surfing/lurking/trolling all
of my WLS club sites (Which is becoming a regular
pass time for me I might add.)and found that My Doctor
(Shawn Garber)does a proximal RNY as opposed to a
Distal(?)RNY. Whats the difference?<br><br>I await you learned
answers. post haste.<br><br>Roch<br><br>I am in a very
wierd mood today. don’t ask me why?

Roch, here’s a copy of a post from a while ago,
which should answer your question:<br><br>"By a shorter
bypass, I mean very little of the small intestine has
been bypassed. Like at Alvarado, they only bypass
50cm. Most people would call that a short
proximal.<br><br>By a longer bypass, I mean a lot, or most, of the
small intestine has been bypassed. Like Dr. S.Ross Fox
who bypasses over 400cm. That is definitely a distal
bypass.<br><br>Most surgeons will do something in between there, like
my surgeon who bypasses 150 cm, or yours who
bypasses 100 cm. Some would call these a medial bypass,
but there is really no strict definition of what a
medial bypass is."<br><br>Hope this helps ~kim.

Kim,<br><br>Thanks a lot for the info. My Doctor
worked at Alvarado so I guess he will be doing a short
one.<br>I have my second appointment with him on 7/27 so I
will be sure to ask him directly.<br><br>Roch

Yeah. I asked my surgeon how much he bypasses, and he said *15* centimeters! I
was rather surprised, and am going to get some other opinions.<br><br>Dorothy,
how much did Dr. Thirlby bypass?
