Approved- I think

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

I just received an authorization for a 1 day
hospital stay. Additional days to be added if the surgeon
feels it is necessary. Is this the approval for the
surgery or will that be different? I was thinking I
wouldn’t hear from them. It has been about six weeks since
my consult with the surgeon. I am getting a little
nervous. After all, this is major surgery. I also have two
children, a 3 year old and soon to be 10 years on the 22nd.
My husband just started a job as an over the road
truck driver. I know that God is beside me, and he will
guide me through this. Thanks for letting me chat. I
feel a little more focused
now.

Dottie
pre-op

Hello,
I have been reading all I can about WLS
and I also have a friend that just had it done 4 mos.
ago. I am scared to death about the surgery…more
about after like blood clots and such. I have 4
children at home ages ranging from 2-15 and do not want
them to have no mommy. I probablt sound stupid. anyway
I am 5′9 and weight 270, I am a sz. 24 and have
tryed some kind on diet for most of my life but to mo
avail. I want so much to be able to play with my kids
and to get some self confidence. I do not have
diabetes or high bp, I do feel tired all the time and
sleep poorly, my legs and knees hurt all the time and
so do my hips and back. I barely ever leave home
anymore. I have fibromyalgia and bipolar disorder and
panic disorder and am afraid that will keep me from

pregnancy and WLS

Friday, August 27th, 2004

HI. My hubby and I have decided to have his
vasectomy refused and have a child. The reversal probably
won’t take place until after Christmas. My WLS is still
in the " waiting for approval" stage. More
documentation is wanted by Aetna. My question is this. The WLS
can be done within 3 months of the approval at my
clinic. The V-reversal can take 4 months to 1 1/2 years
to actually work. I am wondering should I postpone
the WLS in case I can get pregnant soon or is there a
time during the weight loss period that it is alright
to become pregnant. I’m 37 and the idea of weighting
another 2 years to be a mom is hurting my heart
tremendously. Any info out there. I’d ask my doctor…but I
don’t officially have access to him until I’m
approved.
Thanks

Day of Prayers and Rememberance

Friday, August 27th, 2004

I want to offer my condolences to those who have
been affected by this tragedy. I feel I have been very
fortunate that all my loved ones are safe. Moreover, I am
saddened by this senseless loss of life and destruction. I
am also angered by this. But, what I feel is nothing
compared to those of you that have been personally
affected by this. I pray that you are able to gather
strength in the Lord and in the unity of those around you.
I will keep you in my prayers.

With deepest

Friday, August 27th, 2004

Hi everyone,
Well I’m on the other side! I
had my VGB on 8/27/01. So far so good. Its been a
little over a week since my surgery. I went from 310 lbs
to 288lbs. I feel great! I am walking as much as
possible. I had bad swollen ankles before the surgery I
have noticed it has gone. I have been sleeping better,
& also I am getting more brave to be alone stores,
driving etc… without my husband. Good luck to all. Any
questions mail me.
Consultation complete

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

I had my consult with Dr. Anthone at USC on
August 27th. He said it would take 3 months to get
insurance approval and do the work up and schedual the
surgery date. He also said that I was not a candidate to
have it lap. He said my abdomin was already tight due
to all my fat being there. Has anyone else been told
this? I felt he was a little defensive when I asked why
he didn’t do the lap procedure. I do hope that the
insurance will work out. I also was wondering how big the
incision is. Dr. Anthone dose the Gastric bypass Duodenal
switch. Well, I will keep you posted. I also want to wish
those the best that are schedualed for wls this month.
May God guide you along a path of
success.

Dottie
Pre-op
