How long does it take to recover?

I was just wondering how long it is before you
feel like doing things again. I am just trying to
estimate the time I’m going to need off of work. I’m a
receptionist so it’s not like I do anything physical. Has
anyone gone back to work before 3 weeks? of course the
three weeks off is looking really good to
me.

Brandy
preop

The recover time really depends on the person. I
was at school taking finals 4 and 6 days post-op, but
was not feeling good until I was about 2 weeks
post-op. I also had some problems with my staple line and
it took nearly 5 weeks to heal. I’m a full time
mother of a very active 4 year old and full time student
so I did not have to go to work like you will do, my
job never ends :)

Thanks! Yeah, I go to school also. I don’t think
that will be a problem. I might start to fit in the
chairs a little better :) I just didn’t know about work.
My son is 8 and he is at the age were he can help me
a lot. I will just have to live with the house
being a mess until I feel better because he isn’t the
best at putting away anything. I just didn’t know if I
would over do it if I went back in 2 1/2 weeks or not.
I’ve got the time to take off of work, it’s just that
I’m needed at work and I hate to leave for that long.
Three weeks away from there does sound
tempting!

Does anyone that is going to BTC know if you should
wait for them to call you or should I call them to
tell them I’ve been approved?

Thanks,

Brandy-
I was back to work on a part time
basis within 2 weeks of surgery and then back full time
after my 2 week check. It all depends on you and how
you feel.
Which BTC are you going to? All of their
paperwork seems to go through their headquarters - the
Michigan office - so it take a bit longer for insurance
approval to get to your center. They will call when they
can schedule you for surgery but it might not hurt to
call and see if your paperwork is all together and
ready to go.
Good Luck!
Anne
7/30/01
BTC

Hi Brandy-
I had my surgery on July 5th & I
didn’t go back until Aug 17th! Took the whole 6 weeks
allowed. The pain was a lot better after 3 weeks but I was
just not myself. Extremely tired all of the time. Plus
eating is still very uncomfortable for me. Well thats my
story but everyone is different. Good luck
