It’s been a while
I haven’t posted in some time but I finally had
the procedure done. Sept. 5 was my big day. And then
sept 7 was my other big day due to some misfired
staples and a HUGE leek. Of course I developed several
complicaions and spent 31 days in the hospital. I am home now
and feel great. I am still on a feeding tube because
the top of my pouch is still leeking slightly but hey
I feel good nontheless. It’s been 48 days since I
had a bite of food or a drink of water. The food
doesn’t bother me but jeez I am thirsty. Dropped close to
80 pounds since surgery day so I cant complain. I
dont want to scare anyone off so I didnt elaborate on
my complications but if anyone needs details drop me
a line.

Bigdug911,
I am sorry to hear that you have
had such a long recovery. It is important for us to
remember that there are complications that can arise.
I am glad to hear that you finally made it home.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
You are
in my prayers.

Dottie
pre-op DS

Since I last posted, but have been checking in and glad to hear
how everyone is doing. I read from one of the newbies that they
wanted to hear everything…and that’s good even though everything
may not be comepletely rosey. I had my open RNY on september 4 2001,
and again on sept 7, 2001…due to complications resulting from a
faulty staple line. I had a bad reaction to being put under so soon
again and had a lung give out, collapse… woke up on a ventilator
and that is a very very horrifying experiance. The next three days
are still a blur (Thank God). I spent the next 22 days in the
hospital in and out of CCU due to several infections and a fight with
Pneumonia. The horror stories go on and on, had my cathater get
stuck (OUCH!), My new pouch still leaked, all in all I spent 31 days
in hospital, went 92 days on eeding tube/IV…NO food or water by
mouth for 92 days, NONE…NOTHING… Got a wicked bad bed soar. I
dont want to scare anyone, but research everything, dont think this
is a cake walk. I went through HELL….and would do it again
tomorrow, because last August I weighed 587#, yes only 13 away from
600 ( still think I should’ve gone for it), and yesterday I weighed
329 # HOLY CHRIST I lost a pro wrestler so far and it’s still comeing
off. I feel great, energy levels are through the roof, and I am
buying a bicycle tomorrow.
