post-op diet ???’s
I am in the researching and waiting for my appt
phase of the road to surgery process. I was wondering
if anyone else out there is lactose and nutrasweet
intolerant. The diet described for post op is skim milk with
diet CIB. I plan on using soy milk (which I already
drink) with protein powder low carb supplements (whey
and soy). If any one else has used this combo, I
would like to know how it was tolerated. I am most
concerned about dumping since whey tends to "loosen ya up"
anyway. I also found a clear fluid drink at the gym that
body builders use that has no nutrasweet and no carbs
and 40! grams of whey protein in 20 oz of CLEAR
drink. If you have any info to add let me know……:)

Yes, I have been lactose intolerant for years,
and even more so since my gastric bypass. I think a
lot of people develop some degree of lactose
intolerance after gastric bypass. Before surgery, I used Rice
Milk in place of regular milk, but after surgery, the
rice milk bothered me. I think it has too much sugar.
So now I don’t bother with milk at all. I get
protein from whey powder mixed with water. The one I use
is Proscore 100, but that does have some nutrasweet
in it. I also take Calcium Citrate with Vit. D to
make up for the lack of milk. I would suggest visiting
www.vitalady.com . Michelle who is Vitalady knows more about
protein than anyone, and she could tell you which ones
have no lactose or nutrasweet.<br>Lynn
