want to share my opinion too!
hi all, have been following the LJ/PWS
discussion. Again, I would like to point out that DEPRESSION
is not being looked at, PWS or no PWS. Depression is
just a detrimental to eating as loss of ocntrol is and
should be looked at as well. The weight is the main
issue, but it is not her ONLY issue. Being skinny or
losing weight will not make her family problems go away.
She’ll just be a thinner girl with the same problems.
What do you all think about this?

I agree big time that depression is a mjor factor
in weight loss issues. MANY WLS patients end up in
therapy dealing with the harsh fact of no longer being
able to turn to food for comfort or celebration. I
myself may find myself knocking on a therapist door
eventually, but so far so good. Relationships change with WLS
- family and friends as well. I read recently about
a friend that belongs to several of these clubs
that was a super sucessful WLS pt and had a great
marriage. She recently completely had a breakdown and had
to be hospitalized! WOW- it was
depressing!

Ice
