DR HESS BPD/DS anyone? Bowling Green,OH
HI I have two consultations, one is with Dr. Hess
in Bowling Green, which is about 1 hr from me, buthe
doesn’t do R Y Bypass, but does something BPD/Ds it is
slightly different than the Y, and it combines with
duedonatal switching or something, I am reading about tit
but would like to know if anyone has had this done???
It is supposed to have less side effect than Routine
Y .The other consultation is in MI at the Hurley
Center 4 hrs away. I don’t know if I should go to both
or what, Ia m gonna keep researching my options but
I guess Dr. Hess is like the founder of this
procedure and has been doing this for like 15 yrs. Just
wonder is it as effective in weight loss. Thanks, Misty

Misty,
I am schedualed for March 1st, with
Dr.Anthone. He studied with Dr. Hess. I did research into the
different options. It is important that you have an
understanding of what’s out there. I went to support group
meetings and did research on the net. I have made the
decision to have the Duodenal Switch. Fewer side effects
than the RNY. Also, from my research I have learned
that with the RNY monthly B 12 shots are required.
More diet restrictions. And, the big turn off is the
dumping syndrome. Although, this can also happen with the
BPD/DS; it is less likely. Also, according to the
information that I have seen, this procedure has better
results.
I wish you luck in making the decision that is
right for you. Keep us posted.

Dottie
Pre-op
