DR HESS BPD/DS anyone? Bowling Green,OH

Saturday, October 23rd, 2004

HI I have two consultations, one is with Dr. Hess
in Bowling Green, which is about 1 hr from me, buthe
doesn’t do R Y Bypass, but does something BPD/Ds it is
slightly different than the Y, and it combines with
duedonatal switching or something, I am reading about tit
but would like to know if anyone has had this done???
It is supposed to have less side effect than Routine
Y .The other consultation is in MI at the Hurley
Center 4 hrs away. I don’t know if I should go to both
or what, Ia m gonna keep researching my options but
I guess Dr. Hess is like the founder of this
procedure and has been doing this for like 15 yrs. Just
wonder is it as effective in weight loss. Thanks, Misty

New to Club…

Saturday, October 23rd, 2004

Hello Everyone I’m BigMamaLuv, I just joined this
club in an effort to get some ideas that will help
with a new WLS support group that I will be
facilitating. It will be starting in March at the church that I
attend. I will also be having gastric bypass on
Feb.19,2002. I weigh over 500 lbs. and can’t "weight" to start
a new life as a healthier person. I’m not looking
at getting into a g-string or anything, just getting
as healthy as I can be!!! I promised my grandaughter
that we would ride a rollercoaster by the time she is
7. She is 5 now. I would love to hear from anyone
who has anything to say about WLS. I am very anxious
about having this surgery, I have heard every "Horror"
story imaginable! I pray that the "Good Lord" has plans
for me and brings me through. I don’t feel like I

The Second Surgery

Thursday, October 21st, 2004

Hello everyone. I’m new to your group. I had my
open gastric by-pass on 5/30/01. I’ve lost 103 pounds
to date. I’m interesting in hearing about the
removal of excess stomach skin. Has anyone had this
surgery? What can I expect? Thanks in advance for your
response.

There is a continuum of care out there!

Surgical weight loss is a definite obtion on the
journey of healing from obesity but there are steps
before one does the surgery that are powerful in mind,
body, nutriition and spirit. There is an excellent
Compulsive Overeaters Program at The Willough.com that will
only serve to enhance either the surgery or be a step
before.I am a licensed therapist and will coach you along
with any info you need. And yes, it is the only one I
know that takes Medicare as well.

Treatment and Aftercare for Obesity Q&A

Wednesday, October 20th, 2004

I have also worked for the past ten years on
television, consulting to talk, court and reality shows on
healthcare issues. I became involved with obesity treatment
working with Richard Simmons, and several talk show hosts
with wonderful people. The lack of treatment for the
disease amazed me. I have now put together a network of
resources. Feel free to contact me at anytime here or
through my website which is www.tvaftercare.com. Any and
all Q&A are welcomed. I am a licensed clinician and
certified addictions professional.
