Newbie with Questions :-)
Hello my name is Mary, I live in Sac. CA. I have alot of questions
about gastric bypass. I have had my first apointment with my PCP, I
have Kaiser Premenante, you have to see your PCP and he has to refer
you to a class to get all this started which I have and he has… But
my question is my husband, he’s very supportive, but he’s scared, he
was reading some of my papers and he saw the need for next of kin
information, and a "will".. I told him that they do that with all
surgerys. But hes nervious. which makes me nervious, I know I have to
do this for me, I’m 27 yrs, 5′4, and 352..My BMI is 61.8 I need to
loose 220 to be what they say is ideal.. I need to do this for my
health. but (Finally to the Question) How do you make your spouse
understand???? Thank you, Mary

My husband was scared, too. He was very supportive cause he knew
(((Hugs)))
that my health was already in jeapordy with all the weight. But he
still had his reservations. As we researched it and talked with
people who had done it his fears calmed some. I made sure to include
him in every aspect so he knew what was going on. He went to my
consultation with me, he talked to the doctor, etc. If I were you I
would include your husband every step of the way. Research it
online, talk with others who have done it, let him ask the doctor his
own questions. It hopefully will help calm his nerves. It’s scary
watching someone you love so much take such a big step. Even though
you know it will improve their health, the risks are quite scary.
Best of luck to you both!
