Well my surgery date is set for May 10th. Im having the lap-band surgery
instead of gastric bypass due to cost (my insurance wont pay). Im having the
surgery done in Tijuana Mexico by a Dr Pedro Kuri. Has anybody else had
surgery by him? How are the results? Hope Im not waisting my money.

That is awful! Don’t lose faith. I was having a lot of doubts about
the surgery, after all, it IS surgery. Three weeks ago, my
grandmother (81 years old) had to go in for triple bypass. It was
amazing. Only three weeks after having her chest cracked open, she’s
at home, staying by herself, and arguing with us about when she can
drive again. Seeing that has really increased my faith, if 81 year
old grandma can come out like a champ, why should I? Or any of us
for that matter?

The truth is, yes, things can go wrong. But, that’s true of anything
we do. And, in regards to weight loss surgery, the "horror" stories
are rare. Most patients (and there are many of them, my doc performs
up to 15 a week) have some adjustments to make, but they are small
prices to pay for the freedom that comes with reduced weight.

My surgery date is May 21st and i agree 100% the wait is the hard
part. Today I had to see a doctor that wasnt my doctor (last minute
appt. not related to weight surgery in any way) anyway and he asked
me questions about this and that and i told him i quit smoking the
6th of april and that i was having weight loss surgery the 21st of
may and he says " oh, i have patients that have been thru that
surgery" i said "really" thinking he may have wise words to help me
out and he replies "ya and 2 of my patients died from the surgery" i
was so upset when i left that place that i was just a bawling. I
raced home and called my support nurse and she couldnt believe this
man said that to me. So yes the mountains we climb waiting for this
new beginning are very tough and alot of people may get in the way
but i intend to step over them to a healthierlife for ME. I am glad i
have friends to listening to me vent. Thanks
