LIQUID PROZAC QUESTION

Tuesday, November 16th, 2004

Is anyone out there taking liquid prozac and could you tell me
anything about it?? Has anyone had to switch from pill form to
liquid form because of absorption problems after gastric bypass?? I
am going to my doctor Wednesday and am thinking of switching if he
agrees. Thanks in advance for your input! Donna

Getting a Little Angry

Monday, November 15th, 2004

My father is dead set against me having RNY. He wants to me go on
the Paleo diet…has anyone else done this? It’s kind of like a
super-crazy Aitkins diet, all lean meat, fruits and veggies. No
dairy, grains, or preservatives. I’m just upset that I have to make
some "last ditch effort". My heart isn’t in this, I’ve tried the
Aitkins diet already. At what point is it acceptable for someone to
say, "hello, I’ve tried all of this and look at me. Obviously isn’t
working. Do I have your permission to go onto something else?"

Shoot, the definition of insanity is when you keep trying the same
thing and expecting a different result!

I respect your opinion, and I too watch Oprah very frequently (several times
a week, especially on tuesdays). I don’t think Oprah gets it. It is not a
magic pill. Magic pills are for those looking for aesthetic changes. For me
it is a cure for my obesity. It will put into remission my diabetes. It will
improve for me my quality and length of life.

I have a friend who was on 3 blood pressure meds, had RNY and left the
hospital on 2 meds. Within one month she was off all medication.

I have accepted that having this surgery may mean my giving up my current
handicaps (lack of energy, lack of flexibility, mild agoraphobia, etc) for a
different "handicap" (vomiting if I drink and eat at the same time, dietary
restrictions). The trade off is obviously in my favor.

I think if you went to any MD and told them that you had a medication that

.20/20

I saw that and suspected it was about barriatric surgery. Am looking forward
to it.

Does anyone know if it is true that Al Roker just had surgery a few weeks
ago. I hope this is true. Perhaps if he is successful then Oprah will stop
bad mouthing and putting out misinformation about WLS. Love Oprah, but she
doesn’t know everything.

Tonight on 20/20, they are going to take a look at bariatric
surgery. It’s on ABC at 9 CST, but please check your local listings.

A revision going to be done

Friday, November 12th, 2004

I will be having my VBG revised to an RNY in June, 2002. I think the
procedure has been around 5-6 years (i’m guessing), and I would like
to hear from someone who has had this procedure for a long time. How
are you doing now? What can you eat? Do you throw up a lot?

This group has helped me make my decision to go to the RNY, after
deciding I was just going to have the whole thing taken down, and go
back to a "normal" stomach. I am 55 years old, 5′6", and presently
weigh 235. I recently lost 25 lbs. when my VBG totally closed. So I
HAVE to have surgery.

Thanks for your help.

1 Month post-op

Thursday, November 11th, 2004

Hello again,
I am now down 26 lbs. Everyone keeps telling how great I look. It
feels good. My energy level is improving daily. I feel like I am
eating tons of food. But when watching other people, I realize that
it is hardly anything at all. The other shocker is that the amount I
eat feels "normal" to me. I can’t believe how much food people eat.
Weird. :) I am really trying to focus on the protien intake now. I think my
slow-weight loss was due to getting too hungry. It was hard to get
food that I wanted the first two weeks. I live in a 2-story house,
and was not able to drive at that time. I would lay in bed thinking
of what sounded good and be unable to get it. Now my shopping list
includes; deli-select lunch meat, cottage cheese, and yogurt. I can
also drink 1% milk with ice. Michell thanks for the yogurt idea. I
can tolerate the protein powder in the yogurt. I put in 2 heaping
