I am a new member of your support group and need help with several
items. I had my surgery August 2000. I was 400 pounds and now weigh
in about 235 pounds. It has absolutely changed my life!! I am 50
years old with 2 girls (ages 10 and 13) and only watched my children
before–I could not physically participate in vacations, exercise,
anything physical. We now go on bike rides every day, take walking
vacations and I feel wonderful. Here is my problem — I have
absolutely the worst smelly gas imaginable and terrible smelling
bowel movements! I am lactose intolerate so I try not to have any
dairy products or eggs. I have used "Lactaid" and "Beeno" without
much success. My husband refuses to sleep with me and my secretary
has to burn candles and spray air freshner at her desk. It is very
embarassing. Does anyone have a solution? Are there any products
available to take before eating? Any websites that discuss this
matter? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all of

I have now been moved to a "Soft Diet", last night I had 1/4 cup of
mashed potatoes and this morning an egg. I did not have a BM
yesterday, and today I have Diarrhea. Is this a sign that the food
is not setting well with me, or is this just normal?
Thanks,
Sharon

Hey Everyone! My name is Tiffany, I’m 22, and I’m currently looking
into weight loss surgery. I’ve got the approval from my insurance.
Now, I’m just waiting for my surgery-date. The highest weight I’ve
been was 503 lbs. During that time, I was so bored, alone, &
depressed - I was hardly able to move and wasn’t able to do
anything. And I was using food as a comfort zone. That was back in
August 2001 and in the past.
In 10 months, I’ve lost over 100 lbs., the natural way. By eating
right (I’m currently on a 800 cal. diet), and keeping active and
exercising. Now, I’m down to 396 lbs.!!! And I feel so great! I’m
able to walk and move around much better, and get out more! I just
realized that eating so much food and binging on food is just not the
answer.
Hi everyone. Just checking in. I went to the surgeons office today
to have my staples and tube removed. BOY I AM GLAD!!! I feel so
much better already. It hurt a little bit, but not as bad as getting
out of bed that 1st time after surgery..LOL. I went in saying I knew
I had lost 5 pounds…I was down 21 lbs….WOW I can’t believe it.
Talk to you soon.
Sharon
Is there anyone in VA who has had wls and are willing to discuss the
experience with me? I have thought about the surgery for a while but
am not sure where to start. Thanks!!!!

Hi, everyone!
I have just joined this group and there seems to be a lot of caring support
here. I have been approved for the RNY surgery but am still going through some
preop paperwork and testing. I am 50 yrs old with a BMI of 52. I’ve been
researching a bit and reading a lot and finally getting excited about having the
surgery. I’ve been a bit leary until now. I have MS, CFIDS, fibro, diabetes,
and sleep apnea; so I’m really praying that the weight loss will help all of my
conditions. Thank you for letting me join you.
