home and doing good

Hi everyone! I had my surgery on the 7th and got home on the 14th.
they did an open RNY. I was only in the hospital for two and a half
days then i had to stay in Reno for the rest of the week in case of
complications. I live too far away with little to no medical
treatment centers around for 200 miles. So it was better for me to
live in at the Hilton for a week…ha ha! I weighed one week post-op
and had lost 14 lbs. I havent weighed since. I have been walking
everyday and want to do more exercises but not sure if i should or
not. Does anyone know when it is ok to start doing other exercises?
I would love the input.

Sharon, I hope all went well with your sugery I have been thinking
of you. Not sure if you are at home yet or not but maybe you will
read this one of these days!

Thanks all~
Nikki

    Hey Nikki

Glad to hear your surgery went so well !!! I was thinking about you. I had
surgery on Monday at 1:00 and went home on Friday at 11:00, So I guess I was
in 4 days. I am doing pretty good, taking it easy , trying to get some
walking around the house in 6 or 8 times a day. The 3oz every hour on the
hour for 13 hours is the hardest thing. I can’t wait to get these staples
out. I think I will feel much better. Only used paid meds. 3 times since
I’ve been home….I think that is pretty good.

    Hello everyone,
My name is Andy Rhodes. I am a newbie here. I am
really thinking about having the Lap RYGB done. I am
researching on the internet and reading a couple of
books. I am 21 years old and weigh 335 and I want to
try and get down to 180-200. My ideal weight says I
should be around 130-150. I’d just like to know about
experiences, any information ya’ll could give me. Oh,
    I live in Houston, Texas.
Also, what about insurance. My mom’s insurance
does not cover anything weight related. Anyone have
    that problem?
    I have Type 2 Diabetes. I take 2 pills twice a
day and take at least four injections of insulin.
Anyone have to take at least a ittle insulin after

    surgery? just wondering.

    In Christ,

    =====

Andy, hi. Are you sure your mother’s insurance would not cover the
WLS if it were due to live/death issues? Having diabetes is not good
and it can kill you if not attended to…you seem to most definitely
be in the correct zone for needing WLS and you have one or more co-
morbidity illnesses that could be potentially life-threatening. Read
between the lines of the insurance policy and start doing SERIOUS
research with your doctor and get him/her to help you find an
excellent WLS surgeon who can also help with the insurance issues. I
hear Dr. Naaman in Houston is a great WLS surgeon, and Dr. Spivek in
Baytown is another excellent choice. Are you looking into RNY surgery
or LAP-BAND surgery??? The key to getting this surgery happening is
research, persistence, and consistent follow-up — don’t stop until
you have a surgeon and a date — elicit anyone and everyone who can
help you — mainly doctors, surgeons, the insurance company…and get
onto as many WLS websites as you can and research, research!!! Ask

questions, get info, be armed with as much info as possible. Best of
luck to you! You need this surgery and you can get it and have a
    great life…
