THREE DAYS!! OH MY GOD! That’s exciting
Hey everybody….I am now just 3 days away from surgery. I am very
excited but very nervous. I can’t wait to start my new life,
however, I am not looking forward to the NG Tube or the PAIN!!
What’s the old saying, NO PAIN NO GAIN…..well I am changing that
saying…..NO PAIN NO LOSS….LOL
See you on the other side.

Hello Everyone…
I’m Christine 28 y/o from NJ who is considering weight loss surgery.
So far nothing has been able to help me lose weight. I’ve been
trying for a while now and it all seems pretty hopeless. My doctors
have nagged me about having surgery for years but I’ve always been
against it because I am active in the size acceptance community.
Well, I’m sarting to think maybe the doctors are right. I start
nursing school in 4 months and am running out of time to lose an get
into shape. I don’t want to become skinny. I’d actually prefer to
stay around 250. That would be a 200 pound weight loss for me.
Any and all information will be appreciated.

Hello to all, I had a consultation today, on the advice of my dr. I
didn’t need a referral, so maybe that’s good news?
The surgeon that saw me said their group doesn’t do gastic bypass,
they feel it is too dangerous.
He talked to me about VGB (vertical gastric banding)
It is much less riskier but has some drawbacks as well. (As all
surgery does.)
My insurance is through my husband’s work, and it’s a PPO, so I hope
they approve it.
It will be between 2-4 weeks before I will know if it’s approved.
I have been morbidly obese for more than 20 years. My BMI is 46 so
you can about guess what I weigh, and I’m short - 5′3.
I’ve been on all kinds of pills, diets, and exercise routines.
With very little success. I suffer with high blood pressure and
cholesterol, and have asthma too. ( I smoke, unfortunately.)

JJc, There is also the old gag about the guy who’s boat sank and prayed to
God for help. A ship came by and offered a ride, he refused saying God would
save him, then a helicopter came and he refused again, then the coast guard
came and he refused because God was to save him and he drowned. When he got
to heaven he asked God why he didn’t save him and God told him "What are you
talking about I sent a boat, a helicopter and the Coast Guard and you ignored
them."
My point is that this is the cure!!! They may at some time find an easier
way, but this is the first remedy that works. Grab the life line.

Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer. I have been debating the idea of
having surgery for about a year and a half now. Today I went for my
initial consult with the surgeon, dietician, and bariatric
counselor. I am a 24 year old single mom, and have been overwieight
most of my life. Today I weighed in at 255lbs. I haven’t had any
serious health problems associated with my weight, mainly just
depression. My main concern is my son, he is 3 and I want to be able
to enjoy life with him. I have read all about the procedure, pros
and cons, stories of people who have had it done, I even watched
Carnie Wilson’s surgery on the web, but even after all this I still
have my fears. People tell me that they don’t see why I would go to
such extreme measures to loose weight, but they just don’t understand
what it’s like to carry around 100+ lbs. I haven’t been able to get
much support from my friends, they all think I am overreacting. I
was encouraged by the bariatric counselor to meet with the support

I’ve setttled on deciding between the LAP-BAND or the DS and need
info from anyone out there on DS — what it’s like, your surgeaon,
etc. HAS ANYONE ON THIS SITE HAD A DS THAT IS FROM TEXAS? DO YOU KNOW
OF ANY SURGEONS IN TEXAS WHO DO THE DS??? I’ve been on the DS
official website and the surgeons list there doesn’t have anyone from
Texas — can’t imagine there is not ONE surgeon in Texas…I am
scheduled for my first consultation May 24th with a Dallas surgeon
who specializes in bariatric surgeries and he is also a senior
professor of the UTSouthwestern Medical School for the state of
Texas — I am hoping he does this surgery although he only talks
about the RNY and LAP-BAND in his brochure…I would imagine and hope
that since he’s a highly acclaimed surgeon AND an actual surgery
professor that he’s well aware of the DS procedure.
I would like the DS (it seems to be my main choice right now) because

out the first of march before i got my surgery date and so i had so
many other things on my mind. and that song was on the radio alot and
he had been in some past trouble and did a boys rehab and anyway long
story and when i heard this song i thought so much of him. then a few
weeks ago i heard it agian and started crying and i thought to myself
that song could have several different meanings, my son or maybe all
along it has also been about myself and i was so caught up in all
going on i never took the time to see it for me. thanks i am not
