Today was my 6 week checkup and I have lost 38 pounds. The doctor
was very pleased. So was I !!!! I also got some new foods added to my
diet - YEAH!!! Seafood and toast!!! They went ahead and gave me the
8 week foods as my next appointment is not for another 6 weeks. At 8
weeks - Chicken, Turkey and Pasta with Red sugar free sauce !!!! I
know alot of people have a hard time with chicken….I am hoping for
the best.

Thanks and I will check in soon.

Marcia,

I have a question about something you said. I’ve been told often not
to drink while eating. Why is that. I hope you can help.

Thanks, Rebecca

Peggy,

My suspicion is that as you get further out from the surgery, it just
becomes part of your life. You move on.

When I had my first child I thought I would always be a member of
LaLecheLeague, but after your past it, your past it.

I have a friend who is 4 years out and hasn’t received our posts for
more than 2 years.

I have a friend who’s mom is 20 years out, and has gained alot of her
weight back, but she played games with her food, and her surgery was
technically a little different than ours.

Now That My Surgery is All Done And Over With…………

Friday, January 28th, 2005

Now, after my surgery is done, I do find myself getting depressed at
times. Because I feel so trapped now. I’m unable to do the fun
things I used to do. I pretty much walk everyday/3 times a day. But
it’s pretty depressing now that I can’t really go anywhere and do
stuff yet, because it’s summertime! Especially swimming, I miss my
swimming, and I love to dance too. I mean, I’m excited that I had
this surgery, but it just sucks that I can’t do that much yet. I’m
soooo bored!!! =(

Have you felt this way? If so, what do you usually do???

Nervousness takes over

Friday, January 28th, 2005

I have been lurking here for quite some time.
My name is Peggy. My three year process of getting this surgery
comes to an end on July 30.
I know that I really want to do this.
My only concern is that I do not hear anything from people who are
more than 5-6 years out. I saw the post a few days ago calling
for people who are 10-12 years out go by with no responses.
Are there any? I am really worried that the malnutrition and other
complications may shorten my life span.
This surgery (In it’s most primitive form) has been around [what?] 30
years, and yet I have not read or heard from anyone who has been out
5-6 years. The reason I am having this surgery is to prolong my life
and I am so worried that I still won’t be alive in 10 years.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place for longer post-ops…
Can anyone tell me?

vitamins?????

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

Hello everyone my name is Shannon. My surgery date is 7/23/2002 and I
am excited as can be and wated to be prepared. I would like any
advice on what vitamins/antacids are suggested. I didn’t have a
chance to talk to my surgeon about it. Also, does everyone always
take an atacid before eating? Thanks for all your help and any other
suggestions?

Hey Everyone!!!

Hey Everyone!

I just had my surgery on June 7th. So far, it’s been going great!
I’m losing a lot of weight so far. Even the binder is getting too
big for me. My skin is hanging already. My clothes are starting to
get bigger for me too. I get my staples out this coming Wednesday.

I haven’t been having any pain at all so far. I’ve been walking a
lot. The only thing that’s happening is that my senses are starting
to get sensetive to certain smells of foods. My parents don’t have
to lose weight, so they eat a lot of fried foods. And when I smell
the oils from the fried foods, I get kinda nauseaus. I don’t puke,
Thank God! When they eat dinner I usually go for a walk.

But then also what I think it is that, sometimes during my meals I

Getting really nervous

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

Hi guys,

I don’t think I properly introduce myself before. I am Leslie, 49
years old from San Diego Ca. I have been process and approved for
the surgery for 7/3. I saw Dr. Callery this past Friday and became
so frighten after leaving the office. I guess I can’t believe I am
really going thru wiith this. I am in so much pain due to a High
School mentally handicap student, jumped me while hooking a
wheelchair to the bus. I have lower back, hip and knee problems from
this injury. I am in constance pain because the doctors don’t want
to operate on my hips just yet. I am hoping by doing this surgery
and losing about 140lbs, the pain will not be as servere as it is
now.

My other concern is the fear of becoming pregant. I have one son 30
