I Know This Is Gross…..But…….

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

While having your staples in from surgery, it’s ok to clean yourself
in the front and back right?

Today, when I first tried it, I was scared that as I stretch back &
forth, it might interfere with the staples. I did end up with some
tension.

It’s just that, my mom’s been helping me so much. And she has to go
back to work on Friday. I’m just afraid I’ll hurt myself or do
something wrong. And it kinda depresses me that I’m unable to do
what I "normally" can do.

Thanx!

Newbie here/ Peggy

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

Hi everyone! I am Peggy and I am 32 years old. I have a BMI of 50.1.
At least 150 to loose. I have always been a heavy person, but MUCH
more since I had 3 kids.
I have lumbar disc deteriation and I HAVE to loose weight and my
neurosurgeon is the one who suggested the bypass surgery. I was
totally against it at first and he asked me at least listen to him.
Well I did and told him I would do some researching, so here I am.
I went back quite a few posts and noticed that Dee you are from
Louisiana, so am I. (South La.)
I hope yall don’t mind that I just read at first. In fact when I
have time, I will go read again and may be able to answer some of my
own questions.
But here are a few to start:
1) Can you still eat the same foods?
2) Can you enjoy going eat out like other people?

Medical Records

Monday, January 17th, 2005

Has anyone had problems getting their medical records? I recently
moved here from another state and so I am having trouble getting my
hands on my medical records. One of the Doctor’s offices has been
promising me for 3 weeks that they would send them and still I have
no records. Another office has lost my records and the third doctor
is retired and I have no idea how to contact him. Any suggestions?

Insurance requires psyche evaluation

Monday, January 17th, 2005

I have been told by others that their insurance required a psyche
evaluation before they would consider approving WLS. If this is
true, do Dr. Ritter and Dr. Bryce provide this during the
consultation?

For Those of You Who Already Had the Surgery……………

Monday, January 17th, 2005

Just curious, how does it feel after you get all your staples out???

I currently have 63 staples on my stomache. And they can be a pain
in the @ss sometimes. The only thing is that they itch like hell a
lot! I know it’s a sign of healing. I just wanna know that after
you have the staples out, is it more easier to tolerate?

And one more thing, how long do you have to wait til’ you have
liposuction???

Thank you very much!

I live in Northern Lower Michigan and I’m having surgery at the
Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss in Flint,MI. The doctor
I’m meeting with next week is Victor Sorenson. I was on BCBS until
last year, and was going to go to a Dr. in Grand Rapids, MI, when I
became disabled. I had to have the toes on my left foot amputated
due to diabetes complications. Now I’m on Michigan Medicaid (which
actually is paying for way more than bcbs would have), which the GR
dr. doesn’t accept. My caseworker had helped someone else go
through the sugery and so she helped me fing Hurley. I sent my
paperwork in Feb. and on May 25 they called and told me I’d been
accepted. A friend of mine is having her surgery on 8/26. We just
went to her first consult on Fri. at Liv-Lite (Dr. Woods) in Warren,
MI. I’d go there too if he accepted Medicaid. Gathering up my
records was not that big of a deal, since I had just switched
doctors and had gone through surgery. I had seen an

Hey Everyone!!!! I’m Baaaaaaaack!!! How have you been??

As for me, I’ve been great! As you know, I just had my surgery on
Friday, June 7th. Everything went great!!! I definitely had a
speedy recovery. I only stayed in the hospital for a week - from the
7th to 14th. I had no complications from the surgery… Thank
God!!! I went from 397 lbs (before surgery), now I’m 380 lbs!!!

My incision looks great! No bleeding, or leaks. It just looks soo
clean! I have 63 staples in the middle of my stomache. It looks
like a long zipper in the middle of my stomache….lol. I’ve been
wearing this big bandage to keep it in place. I have the staples out
in 2 weeks.

I came home yesterday around 4 PM. I felt so much like dancing (even

Great West Life & Annuity (One Health Plan HMO) Insurance

Friday, January 14th, 2005

Does anyone else have Great West Life & Annuity (One Health Plan HMO)
insurance? I called my insurance company and asked them what info
they needed and they said they approved it on a case by case basis
and would not give me any other information than that. Does anyone
have any light they could shed for me.
Thanks,
Angela

Superblessed

Thursday, January 13th, 2005

I feel superblessed too. For the love of my family and friends, and not too
many bills.
But most recently I too feel blessed that this procedure has been perfected
in my life time, and in time for me to benefit from it.

Think of the generations of obese that had to live and die with their weight.
We are so lucky.

Good luck getting approved.
