<description>I went to that site and signed up. It's pretty scarey. I've noticed that
the majority of the participants have had Jeujenal whatchamacallits and
Billiary, Pancreatic diversions, and duodenal switches, in other words the
super malabsorptive or old fashioned stuff. As little as 4 years ago I
wouldn't consider WLS because of all of those old horror stories. Technology
changes every 6 months, let alone 30 years. I do think some of them are
terribly sick, but they are even blaming postoperative heart disease on the
WLS.

I'm sorry for them, that they are still suffering after all these years, and
that they don't realize how much things have changed in this field of
medicine.

<description>Thanks Sue for informing those of us who are NEW to this. I am the
one who posted the website link. When I mentioned in an earlier post
that I had seen this, I started receiving emails from others who
wanted to check it out, I had no idea that it was BS!! I will say on
a possitive note that this was the FIRST website I had came across
that was NEGATIVE about WLS. That says something good about the
several WLS procedures!!!</description>

		<description>Everyone,
Please bear in mind that this site is run by Sue Widemark, an outspoken
critic of WLS who has been spreading mis-information and scare stories for
years. She is notorious for taking comments out of context to serve her
purpose.

<description>Thanks sweetie but I have seen that one.

It sounds to me like these people did not open their ears. My doctor has
explained all these things that have happened to the people on that site. As
for the mental anguish. A good shrink will help if you are willing to get out
of the self pity thing. Let's face it most over weight people( sorry if some
are insulted) have some issues that go along with years of being overweight, be
it because of compulsive eating or self esteem or even relating to others or our
body immage. Many of us could use some help. I do, and I get it in the way of
therepy. I utilize that to the best of my ability. It makes for good mental
health. When I go into this surgery, as I hope to I will be thoroughly prepared
with all the facts. I am developing a support system including the on line
groups, my family and meeting with people that have had the surgery. Very
healthy ones and a good friend who almost lost her life. I hope that all of you
will learn as much as possable and go into this eyes wide open. That way you
&lt;!--more--&gt;
won't be one of those trying to blame everybody else. Phew! and now I'll go eat
my dinner. Thanks for listening. Love you guys, Maureen
