Hi,
I was a member a while back and due to many problems I did not get my
surgery. FINALLY I am scheduled for July 24. I can hardly wait.

<< About your protein. What are you using and how are you taking it? I make
myself 2 shakes a day with Lactaid. I use procomplex. >>
Wellllllll…………that’s the problem……I’m not getting hardly ANY
protein. I throw up almost everything I eat; except very soft cooked veggies
& baby food fruit. I know I can’t live on this alone & i NEED more protein.
But the thought of drinking it just gags me.
i know i am going to be headed for trouble, soon, without it.
that’s why i was asking about protein bars.
i wish they made a protein pill!!!

Hi all! I just returned from my Dr. w/ somewhat good news. Although
I still have NO co-morbs (which I think is great!!!) other than my
knees (which after my x-rays came back, Dr. says it is
CHONDROMALACIA PATELLA), my Dr. is getting the paperwork together
(letter of med. nec. & referal), and is going to get me set up to
see Dr. Margaret Inman @ St. Vincent Hosp. in Indy,In. Like I said,
although my bloodwork came back w/ no probs. at all, Dr. says I am
120 lbs. over my ideal weight w/ a BMI of 40.3!!! He also said he
thinks it would be better to perform such a surgery on someone who
IS healthy, but extremely overweight, than to operate on someone who
is already at risk from complications due to HBP,Diabetes,High
Cholesterol,Etc. He also thinks the age of the person makes a
difference. I TOTALLY agree w/ him. I’m sorry if this in any way
offends anyone, this is just my Dr.’s (and mine) opinion. Although I
still have a long way to go in this process, I am sooooo excited
(more…)
Here is the website (wls neg.’s) for all who want to check it out.
Beleive me it will make you think twice. BUT, do NOT let it change
your mind. I just want to hear everything i can before i make this
MAJOR, LIFELONG decision, as i’m sure you all do to.
Thanks Carolyn……..
I will keep you all posted.
I’m not scheduled to see my surgeon again till Aug.
That will make me 4 months post-op by then.
I’m having an AWFUL time getting PROTEIN in me!
Is anyone having this problem & has anyone tried the protein meal bars? Are
they tasty?
dee
Are there designated times for chatting or is the chat rm. always
empty?? It would be nice to chat w/ some of you. Let me know what
the deal is, please. Thanks!!! ![]()
I would like to know if anyone is having a rough recovery or if any
of the older (2-3 years) post-ops are still having problems?? I’ve
been researching this surgery for awhile and just found a website
that has nothing but the negative stories on it. I have read alot of
these stories, which are people who have had a really rough time
recovering, even years down the road they are still suffering.
Please be honest, I need all the info, good & bad. Thank you all.
<< Has your mobility improved? Are you skinny yet? >>
Am I skinny? HA!! NOT hardly!!! LOL…….
I tell people, you can’t see my weight loss yet because it’s like taking a
teaspoon of water out of the Atlantic Ocean! LOL
I am going to physical therapy for back strengthening, so I’m sure with more
wt. loss, my mobility will improve.
Boy…….I can’t WAIT to get back into the land of the living!!!

Hi, I just read your second post. I think it is very wise to seek out this
surgery before you get all the problems associated with obesity. Anyone who
is willing to go through this surgery and understands what it entails must be
doing it for more than vanity.
I had the surgery 6 weeks ago(time flies) and started at 277lbs, 5′3”. I’ve
lost 31 lbs and went from a 4x to between a 2 and 1x. or a size 30 to a size
22. Pretty good. Keep researching and know that you’re plenty fat for this
surgery and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.LOL
Good luck
Rebecca
