HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son had this surgery on July 11, for the past 3 days he has not
been able to eat or drink anything and keep it down. Even water
makes him vomit. He is taking the smallest sips and it still makes
him sick. Icalled his doctor Friday and his nurse talked withthe
doctor and basically what he said was that happens and if he can
still urinate he was ok. I wish I knew more about the (normal)
things about the vomiting and when it becomes something I should
really be concerned about

I will ask the same things that vitalady asks.
How does water taste? (if it’s metallic, he might have a small ulcer)

Has he eaten anything that might have gotten caught? Could he have
accidently swallowed something that might have blocked his stoma? I
know we’ve got a lady with that problem on the gastricbypass-infocentral
    list, which I’m also on.

If it continues, I’d ask the doc for an endoscopy, it may be that his
stoma has closed down a bit and will need to be stretched, which can be
done while he’s scoped. Those are the only two things I can think of.

I am sorry to hear your son is having problems. If he is a fast healer I
would be very concerned if he is not keeping anything down. Make sure that
he is not drinking anything 30 minutes before meals and 30 minutes after
meals, this will make him bring up the food. I learned the hard way too.
If this is not the case, please take him into the doctor to make sure his
pouch did not close on him. We had three at are meetings that this has
    happen to.

Thanks for your reply. I have another call into the doctor. He is in surgery
now. I think the nurse thinks I am a worrywart. But I know he is dehydrated
and weak. He had one sip of water and 30 minutes later a sipof his proteing
shake and so minutes later he was vomiting. This cannot be normal. Do you
think I am worrying too much and this is the way it is supposed to be. The
nurse said his pouch only holds 1 oz.

This is worried mom again. My son was admitted to th e hospital after the
doctor ordered an X-Ray. It showed a blockage of some sort. It is either
swollen or it healed closed. Dr. said he will be in the hospital 3-5 days and
the firstt 3 days nothing to eat or drink to give the swollen area time to heal.
Then if that does not work then they will do an endoscopy (spelling) and if that
does not work then surgery. He has lost 73 # since the surgery on July 11.
Thannks for your support and hugs.
