Peggy….

Peggy: I am sorry that no one seems to be responding to your messages. I don’t
usually respond at all, but will answer your cry for help. After my surgery in
1997 I wasn’t able to eat hardly anything for six months, and even then, it was
only small amounts. Take things very slow….you had major surgery and your
body needs time to adjust.

Take care and hold strong…..we are here and hear your cry for answers.

Why is it when I write regarding problems or questions, I never get any
responses. I am over 4 months post op and am doing well losing weight. But, I
can’t hardly eat anything. Why don’t people respond with my concerns.

My story is probably the same story you have. I starting gaining
weight after the birth of my second child and since then I have
consistantly gotten heavier. I am heavier now than when I was 9
months pregnant. My "excuse" for being the weight I am is getting
old since my son is 6 now.

I have tried all kinds of diets and one prescription weight lost
drug: from Atkins to diabetic diets (although I am not diabetic),
slim fast, xenical (which cost me over $100 and I could not take do
to the side effects).

I now feel extrememly out of control with my weight and feel that
this is the perfect time to begin asking my doctor about weight loss
surgery. If I don’t do something now, I know that my weight will
continue to climb.

Spotlight Health.com

Good afternoon everyone,

As I was going through the e-mail to day reading over the 425 posting I must
caught-up on. One of the messages spoke of a slide show about by-pass surgery. I
must say that I want to know all the information I can possibly obtain. I went
on a web sureach and found several sites. However on Spotlight health.com (A
Doctor In Your House.com) I was able to see the surgery of Carnie Wilson. There
are loads of information there, you need to spend time and look about.

The other sites, WLS.com; Obesity.org; Obesityhelp.com; Weight loss surgery
info.com are some the the sites I found informative. Along with the great
information on this site.

It has been 5 working days since my pcp doctors’ letter went to the insurance
for a second look. I phoned and e-mail my surgeons’ office on Friday but have

Sick Days before Surgery

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

Since I am having surgery out of town, I recently had a "pre-op"
appointment at the hospital last Tuesday & I cought a cold. Now just
this morning I started caughin up the green-stuff. I don’t "feel"
really bad. I don’t have headaches,or temperature,or anything;
rather, I just have alot of dry caughing which is taking its toll on
my throat; that is until this morning. I sound like an old woman
thats been smoking all her life!!! My surgery is currently scheduled
for Tuesday. I was thinking about waiting til Monday to call &
advise my doctor. I would appreciate any advice.

Going through the motions

Hi, I am trying to get Gastric Bypass surgery. I am a Kaiser-
Permanente Health Plan member in Northern California, just outside of
San Francisco. I have been told my surgery will be performed in
South San Francisco. I have seen all the specialists I was told to
see. The dietitian said that the surgeon’s nurse has already asked
for and received my records. I don’t know when I will hear from the
surgeon and am anxious.

I have many questions for the real people that have had the surgery.
I want to know how badly it hurt afterward and if it will make you
feel ill. What do you eat in the first weeks after surgery. What
foods are the easiest to digest. I have a FEAR of vomiting and don’t
want to do anything that could cause it. Could somebody please answer
me? I don’t know if we are supposed to give our e-mail addresses or
not.
