Protein
I have been using Carbolite protein shakes. I order them off of the
Carbolte site. It almost makes you feel guilty they taste so good.
{Not Soy}. Sometimes with the vanilla I add diet coke or root beer to
make a float. There is no after taste whatsoever and my dietician
approves.
They are 24 grams of carbs and 150 calories per serving. I have to
make sure I don’t drink too many. lol
I also like the Isopure cold fruit punch drinks, 40 grams of protein
and 160 calories.. They are handy to put in a ice chest when not home.
It gets so expensive trying and throwing away all of the powders.
I hated them all. I can finally enjoy the taste of something. Not as
good as a steak.lol

Sheila…….
Have you had your surgery, yet??
I see you drink diet coke & root beer. We are not supposed to have carbonated
drinks after surgery. Just wondering if you are able to tolerate them.

How many grams of sugar per serving, Sheila? 24 grams of carbs might
look like a lot to most of us, but if the sugars are low, the carbs
might be in things that our bodies don’t absorb.

I see you are using carbonated drinks, that is one of
the things that my surgeon strictly forbids and tells
you before surgery it is one of the things that will
stretch your pouch. I love diet coke so I have been
slowing reducing my consumption so by the time I have
my surgery I will be off them.

Sorry you guys I made a mistake..Carbolite is 24 grams of protein, 3
carbs and 150 calories. It has no sugar.
Dee, I have wanted to write you with my update, but have been out of
town. No, I have not had my surgery yet, I think it might be the
first week of September. Just waiting on ins. everything else is set.
That is why I can have a soda sometimes. I am not worried about
giving them up. I love water, I am more worried about not being able
to gulp that when thirsty. As you know it gets hot here in the South.
I know I will have a lot to learn after surgery.
Thanks, Sheila

That was my biggest fear, too.
But, I make sure I have water with me always!!!!
I am almost 4 months post-op & I can put away alot of water in no time
without any problems at all. I am and always have been a HUGE water drinker!!
So don’t worry.

i have a terrible time with protein drinks….finally
found one I can tolerate.
It is a little sweet but I handle that by mixing 1/2
cup grapefruit juice, 1/2 cup orange juice and then
add the 2 ozs liquid protein. It is orange dreamsicle
flavor, they also have honey and one other I can’t
remember. but go to the webpage vita4life.com….they
also have very absorbable vitamins for gastric bypass
patients and also calcium. The 2 oz liquid protein is
30 grams of protein. I have felt so much better since
taking it. It comes in individual 2 oz packages and
that makes it very handy when you have to travel. They
also have a sampler pack of the 3 flavors. I heard
they are going to come out with mocha something and
another flavor soon!
There is also ISO Crystalin at GNC it comes in
little packets and the powder is very reminiscent
(sp?) of Pixie Stix’s !!! Not bad at all
Good luck in your quest for protein, I found my prize!
Lori Young P.S. No, I am not a distributor of the
stuff, just a satisfied customer
