I’m new at this—
<PRE>I everyone. I’m pretty new at this and have enjoyed reading everyone
else’s
questions and comments. I’m scheduled for surgery 9/17 and am getting very
excited to have it. I have heard conflicting stories about whether or not I
can take a pill after the surgery. Some people say they cannot. Others say
they can. What experience do you all have with after-surgery pill taking?
Thanks for your input.

I guess the first question would be - how big is the pill? Our stomas
are not very big. Usually they say the pill needs to be the size of or
smaller than an M&M. (Can it be cut up and not lose the integrity?) The
second question would be, what kind of pill is it? Does it dissolve
easily.? After all, it doesn’t have several hours in the stomach to get
dissolved. Sometimes time-released meds don’t work as well because our
plumbing is so rearranged.

<PRE>Thanks Pam, I appreciate your input. It’s a blood pressure pill and is
pretty small. I’ll ask my doctor. My surgery is with Dr. Frantzides
(director of non-invasive surgery) at Rush in Chicago.
