Recovery Period
Hi - I am scheduled for laparoscopic RNY surgery on October 24. I am a
single mom and I am concerned about recovery time. I have care for my three
year old for about ten days but I have very little care for myself. What
have people experienced once home from the hospital? Do I need to have
someone in my home with me and if so - for how long?

I would most definitely have someone there to help me for at least a week.
With a three year old….I might even make it two weeks.

Hi, Renee
I had the lap RNY on Apr.30th. I was in the hospital for 2 days.
I was feeling great but VERY sore when I got home for quite a while…at
least till my Dr. removed my drain. (about 2 weeks). I still did things,
though, with no real problems. Just took lots of pain meds. LOL You will want
to take it VERY easy for at least a week.
