    Stacia,
I had the surgery on August 28th at Brigham and Women’s. Pre-op I was
    260. Now I am at 208. I can feel a tremendous difference in the way I feel.
People I only see from time to time insist I am melting away. I love all of
the positive attention I am getting from everyone about my weight loss. I
also find it difficult to eat. My nutritionist was upset that I would not
eat. I hate to eat now. But, I have to force myself. I also, have experienced
"Dumping" it really is not fun. I thought have not thrown up since the first
night I spent in the hospital. My surgery had no complications, except that I
threw up when they woke me up on the operating table. That scared me. I went
into surgery at about 10:30 and was out at 1:45. I was then in recovery till
6pm, until they brought me up to the floor. The first night was hell. I did
though get up and walk that night. The next couple of days were much better.
I would walk all over the hospital with my friends and not have a problem. I
was released on Saturday, August 31st. I was happy to get home to my own bed

and not be woken up every hour for tests. If I had to rate my experience on a
scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) it would have to be a 9.5. I would do it
again in a heartbeat. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me.

Hi everyone. I, too, am recovering from lap surgery done 9/17/02. I feel
pretty good and have no regrets. I’ve been very lucky and haven’t had
complications. I’ve started eating similar meals to the family and everything
so far has agreed with me. My tastes haven’t changed at all, it just takes much
less to fill me up. I just have to be careful to measure my 1/2 cup of food
because it still takes my tummy time to realize it’s filled up. I have a
nutritionist meeting this week and hope I get the go ahead to eat raw
vegetables. I feel the same that I always did and sometimes think that I won’t
be convinced the surgery will work until I lose over 35 pounds, the most I ever
lost at one time. Good luck to everyone waiting for a surgery date. It only
gets better after that (well, maybe a couple of days after that!)
