The Aspartame Issue

Sunday, May 8th, 2005

My dear friends at group,

In 1993 when I was in a car accident my dentist took me off diet soda and
artificial sweeteners. I felt better and when the healing was done I got busy
and went back to old habits. In 2000 my family psyician told me that one
byproducts of equal was wood alcohol, something very dangerous to my system. I
cut down, and felt more energy. My doctor besides being a DO is a pharmisist
and a brilliant man. The less I have of that stuff the better I feel. To me
that says more than fantastic stories that we know are scare tactics. Would it
hurt to try something that may make you feel less sluggish and more clear
headed? Maureen

A friend e-mailed me with the following story and article. I cannot
vouch for its validity as the authors of both are unknown. You can
do your own research and draw your own conclusions. I felt a need to
pass this on because most post-op patients depend upon sugar-free
foods and drinks. Most contain the item mentioned below.
Personally, I found items in my kitchen that contain the additive.
Including Crystal Light.

Recovery Period

Friday, May 6th, 2005

Hi - I am scheduled for laparoscopic RNY surgery on October 24. I am a
single mom and I am concerned about recovery time. I have care for my three
year old for about ten days but I have very little care for myself. What
have people experienced once home from the hospital? Do I need to have
someone in my home with me and if so - for how long?

Thank you for your input!!

Just General Stuff etc.

There usually is not anyone here in the chat room. I usally go to
www.obesityhelp.com and they have a public chat room there that is
very helpful. Also, if you don’t mind reading, and I supposed you
don’t since you are reading this, there is a good book "The Doctor’s
Guide to Weight Loss Surgery" by Dr. Louis Flancbaum, which I have
found to be a great tool, not only for obtaining approval for
surgery but also for answering questions and supplying basic
knowledge of procedures etc.

Will somone please take the time to help me get started in group!!!!

surgeon’s appt.

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

I need some feed back from my friends on this site. Does a wait of 9 months
seem over the wall for a consult appt with a surgeon? I can understand maybe 2
or even 3; but 9 months seem over the wall a little. What has been your
experience guys (and girls)?

Note: forwarded message attached.

I just got some good news

Monday, May 2nd, 2005

about my surgery date. It’s been moved up to
Sept. 27th. I go to pre-op on the 19th at 10:30am. I was so excited to
hear that. I was just talking about my surgery before she callled. I was
embarrased when I answered the phone i said "Hello, What can I do for
you." But I asked about the insurance and she said she is going admit it
for approval. So I am going to say a prayer to get approved.
