might be able to attend? I also still need the mental eval if anyone
has a recommendation for who for that too.I live in Spring Lake. I
have BCBS PPO for Ins.Many thanks! and I look forward to hearing from
any of you!

Still a bit on the fence about it…

Whats the biggest downfall you’ve had so far post op?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

I am interested in WLS. I have read almost 50 posts today and have
only learned about the throwing up, hair loss, nasty protien shakes,
and some of the more common side effects. But what is
this "DUMPING?" I can’t seem to figure out what that means? It sure
does sound nasty. I am currently 26 years old. Mother of three
children.(Tubes tied…no more kids) Weight is around 300lbs and
5′7" tall. I have no insurance at this time but we are looking into
getting some soon. What are some of the best/worst insurance
companies to work with? I live in Texas near Houston if that makes a
difference. I have read a lot about the positive effects of the WLS
but I would like to hear some of the negative effects if possible.
Thanks a bunch!

duodenal switch

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

hi-

i had the d/s on oct 22, 2002. i have felt pretty horrible at times,
and still do occasionally but it is usually because of something i
did-not because of the surgery. the 1st week was pretty bad-i slept
through most of it. i really wanted to return to work after 2 weeks
and i tried to- but i thought i was going to hork after about 3
hours. i found it really difficult to concentrate on my work. i’m
going to try again in another two weeks because i’m fairly bored
hangin’ at home.

however, i continue to obsess over things i can not have. (hagen
daz dulce de leche ice cream, brad pitt, fried chicken skin (not the
meat),jack in the box tacos, etc) i ask god to remove the
obsession. sometimes it works-most times not. i keep on praying.

Had My Surgery

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Well I had my surgery on Nov.7th and I feel pretty good. It feels
like someone punched ne in the stomach or I did too many sit ups.
I just got home about 3 hours ago. I was really, really nervous
going into this, but it turned out just fine (so far):)
They said the surgery took 3 hours then recovery for 2 more hours.
The doctor has me eating cream of rice, plain yogurt, lactose free
milk, and some juices.
I just cant believe I finally did it. I cant wait for the results.

Looking to connect

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Hi,
I had the Gastric Bypass surgery on October 16th and I’m just looking
to connect with others who have had this experience as well.

I have had some difficulty with being "scared" to eat again and then
feeling physically ill after I eat. Has anyone else had this
experience? Am I just to new to having the surgery done to
feel "normal" again? I would really appreciate any feedback I can
get.

Thank you!
Katie

Surgical Wound Infection

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

Hello Everybody:

I am a brand new member and I need your advice. I had a RNY on
7/18/02.My surgical procedure was a conversion from a VBG. I have
developed a wound infection that will not go away! I have three
open wounds on my incision that has to be packed twice a day with
gauze soaked in saline. We have tried Dakins Solution (saline with a
bleach additive), antibiotics. It has been almost 4 months and
basically no improvement.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how was your wounds
treated? I would love to hear from anyone that has gone thru this
also. My conversion was done primarily becuase of severe problems
with the VBG (barfing every meal, unable to eat at all!)but I have
lost 50 lbs, no longer have GERD,and NOT throwing up.

Update on me!

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

Good Morning Everyone,

Just thought that I would pop in and give an update on me!

I had to break down yesterday afternoon and ORDER CLOTHES! I can’t
believe that the clothes that I have been wearing for years are just
swimming on me. I also realized that I bought things too big
sometimes on purpose to hide the fact that I was so overweight. I
actually called my husband to make sure that he was okay with me
spending that kind of money. He laughed. He told me that he knew that
I was needing things but had to make that decision for myself. So I
ordered 3 fleece type shirts, 4 pairs of comfortable pants and 2
bras. It is a start. I know that I will be shopping again in the
spring, but for now this is a good place to begin.
