Laproscopic vs. Open
Thank you to all that replied to my long and involved question. It was very
helpful to hear your answers. I have my initial consultation on January 30,
as this Doctor is very busy. Before I went to the required support meeting,
I had concluded that open RNY was the way to go. However, he does the
laproscopic surgery almost exclusively. I would be happy to hear various
experiences with either one. Open is allegedly safer, cheaper, but longer
recovery. Laproscopic is a tad bit more risky for leakage, more expensive.
I guess I would tend to go with the procedure that the doctor recommends.
Would welcome any thoughts.

I had lap by a very good surgeon, and he does almost all, if not
all, laps. But you should go with what your doctor is most comfortable
doing, given the specifics for your case, Danny. Lord knows, we
want our docs to feel very assured as they go into surgery <G>.
