Shopping

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hey Leslie,

That sounds GREAT. I have put off shopping for years because I just don’t want
to purchase those clothes with the flowers and animals printed on the front.
With all the fuller figured people in the world you’d think that by now the
manufacturers would do better. If you can’t find a, "Just My Size", store then
tulips, roses, rabbits, bears and Disney characters are what we have to choose
from. My husband is always asking me to get something new for myself and has
often offered to take me to NY to shop. Girlfriend when I can, I am going to JC
Penny’s right here at home. I can’t wait to get into a nice business suit with
some 3 inch heels. With my flat feet, the term no pain no gain will certainly
make it’s mark. I yearn to get into a pair of stockings with the little garter
instead of pulling and tugging on 4x panty hose. Life will be GREAT. I have 3
grown daughters, 7 grand children and 1 great grand child. I want to hear them
say, grandma you look good instead of hearing, boy the world is Round.

just a little update. :)

I went to my surgeon’s today for a checkup and I’ve lost 25 pounds since my
surgery (Jan. 2nd). Oh and as for the clothes thing…It’d be damned good
if I could just wear panties, because I seem to find more pretty panties
than pretty clothes…lol SO I tend to not buy many clothes and buy myself
diamonds instead. For instance: last year I decided I needed a 1 carat
diamond toe ring, so I bought it. Then for Christmas I decided I needed new
ear rings..so I bought 1 carat studs and then new 1/2 carat studs. I might
not have any clothes, but damned, if I don’t have panties (3 drawers full of
them) and jewelry!

*hugs*

I’m New to Our Group

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year:
I have been reading the post messages and feel good about being a
part of this group. I have been waiting for a year and a half to get
the rny. I have had several disappointments from the beginning. My
Doctor’s office losing my chart and then losing my tests results.
Finally in Sept/02 my approval came through. I immediately called
UCLA for my appointment and decided on the open procedure. My appt
with my surgeon was for 1/23/03, I was jazzed, scared and worried all
at the same time. In the last past few weeks, I have called to
confirm my appt and was wondering when to expect my surgery packet.
Well, with the luck I have had, UCLA could not find me in their
system! No appt, no referral, etc. Not again……..I said over in
my head, I felt like a lost puppy and felt discouraged and started
feeling that all the bad luck I’ve had were probably signs not to
procede with getting healthy by having WLS. Well, after crying and

Newbie with a question?

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

I have just attended my first seminar for the gastric-bypass
surgery. I feel this is finally the answer to my prayers after
having made what feels like thousands of attempts to lose weight over
the last 10 years.
Problem is…my insurance company won’t pay for any of it. According
to the information at this seminar…The surgical team will cost
right at $4500 and the hospital will cost $18-22,000 for the "open"
surgery and even more for the laproscopic surgery. So I am trying to
think of several ways to do this…since I don’t just have that kind
of money lying around! As a matter of fact, I am currently
unemployed, having been layed off last August.
So, my question is….my father suggested I look into having the
surgery outside of the US, since medical costs in other countries
aren’t nearly as high as they are here. Has anyone had their surgery
outside of the US? Does anyone know of a resource I can use to find

Please unscribe me from this group. Although it is informative. I receive to
much duplicatation and it takes up to much space as I don’t get online often
enough to read this. Why do so many repeat messages come through. This has been a
problem all along. I am postop 8 1/2 months. Your information would be helpful
if it wasn’t for this.

Hi Lauren

Monday, September 19th, 2005

and everyone else,

I am so sorry to have caused you so much stress. Never knew you would go as
far as calling my hospital.
Well, I was supposed to have been home but when the 3-4 days after surgery
were over I still had a fever. So I stayed. Two days after that they
discovered that I had developed pneumonia. The next day my 104 degree fever
broke because then it was discovered that my incision got infected. When my
Dr. took the staples out my incision opened back up. So now I am running
around with a hole in my stomach. Great, isn’t it??? Twice a day it has to
get changed and re-packed. It really doesn’t feel good. My husband had to
extend his leave but will have to go back to work on Friday. It is a donsa
(day of non scheduled activities), which means they should be off but his
boss already said they might work. With all these crazy upcoming deployments
that doesn’t surprise me either.

To All:
I tracked her down to a military base hospital called Blachfield.
They told me she was discharged, so I do feel better. Their home
number is unlisted, so I guess we’ll just have to wait to hear from
her. I feel much better that she’s been released though.
Thanks,
Lauren
