Weird situation
I am very worried about something. My first worry was when i tried sugar
products and they didnt affect me at all. I have been able to drink a few cups
of coffee with sugar and creamer in them and only after a few does my body react
and its really not that bad. I get a mild quickening heartbeat and feel a little
sick. But thats about it. I wish i had never even tried sugar. Cause now its in
my head that its ok and i wont get sick.
My other problem is that for the past 2 days, i have had a craving really bad
for something. Mostly salty or spicy foods. But i was able to eat 2 pineapple
slices, 3 pieces of pickled okra, 3 crackers, 12 oz of light chocolate milk, and
not really feel full like i was before. But i am wondering if it wasnt just my
head thinking i wasnt full or something. There is no way at all that i used to
be able to eat that much. And it might not sound like much but when your meal
consists of around 2 oz of food per setting, then you tend to worry. And usually
after that 2 oz i would get this "full" or "knot" feeling in my tummy. I just
had my surgery on Nov 13th. Could something be wrong, or is this normal for that
time. I havent had really all that much trouble with my surgery. I havent even
had to call the dr once, except to ask after 3 weeks if i could finally take a
bath instead of shower.
I dont even have the "frothing" of the mouth when i eat some things anymore. It
was like gas that would come up into my mouth but "frothy" instead. Tomorrow is
my weigh day again. But so far i have only lost 45lbs. I know that is extremely
good for weight loss over all, but is it good for someone that just had
gastricbypass? I am starting a better excersice routine here soon. Consisting of
going outside and taking walks and stuff like that. It has been WAY too cold
here to do anything outside, causing me to sit inside and be a couch potato.
Even though my lazy self will still lay and do my leg lifts and such…hehe…
Any thoughts or anything for me? I dont care if its rude or not. I want to be on
the right foot and want to stay on the right foot. We dont go through all this
pain and money to be like we were before!
Any help is appreciated! Thanks
Melissa

I don’t dump on sugar much, either. Not all of us do. Might happen
later, but right now I get a little queasy and don’t get the big
response that others do. TBH, I hate the queasiness, so I just have
to hold onto hating that feeling.
When you drink with your foods, it makes it into soup, and it goes
right through, just like a liquid.
Of course, you’re not full like you were before. When you first
started eating, your whole new digestive track was swollen from the
surgery. We all were full right after surgery.
If you’re craving spicy or salty, you might be able to do it better
with spices than with foods. As an example, where are you with meats?
I can have meats that agree with me, and for lunch I had some pork
from a pork BBQ sandwich. Got my protein in plus a bit of the spicy
taste. It was very satisfying. Didn’t drink again for an hour,
so that my tummy had a chance to feel full. Did chew, chew, chew
until it was practically a liquid going down.
Head hunger is very, very normal for us. Keep your eyes on the goal,
and you will get there. I had my surgery on the 20th of Nov, and
have lost 25 lbs, but had a lower BMI than some. The lower the BMI,
the slower the weight loss.
Good luck!

Right now i am only eating fish and small portions of chicken for my meat.. i
had tried beef or ham.. but they didnt set well with me at the time… i havent
tried since.. its kinda like getting your hand slapped at the cookie jar, once
it happens you think twice about doing it again.. so i havent bothered with
other meats… just fish and chicken…
My lower intestines have been hurting a little.. but it might be cause i had an
intestinal hernia repaired right after my gastricbypass in the same surgery….

I am 5 yrs post op and still have trouble with meat. Pork, ham and
stringy beef will not go stay down at all. Sometimes chicken will
give me trouble too. I seem to have better luck with chicken, and
steak if it is cold. Deli meats are fine too. Have you tried
cottage cheese or peanut butter. The lean cuisine type of dinners
are the perfect size now and seem to stay down okay as long as they
aren’t to spicy.

HoneyBee,
I know that’s right. All of us can be royal you know what’s at times. I hear a
lot about LAP surgery. I know that with it there is quicker recovery…..
Now girls, tell me. I have had about 8 surgeries in one spot including my 3
The hernia’s soft tissue extends up the
girls. I also have a hernia about the size of a soft ball on the lower part of
my stomach. Am I correct in thinking that my incision will be from right below
my breast down to my squirrel?
left side of my zipper. Will I get a tummy tuck?
I got the name honeybee cause my name means honeybee…

Yvonne, My incision went from my bra line to my belly button. You might want to
save the hernia and tummy tuck until you’ve lost some weight. I know my surgeon
gave me a brreak on the tummy tuck when he fixed my hernia.. I have heard that
the lap surgery is less painful. But my Dr. only did the full incision one.

Thanx Ellen,
That is something I will certainly talk to him about. Like yours, my Dr. only
does the open surgery but with all the scar tissue I probably need it.
