Obesity surgery

Hey Leslie,

That sounds GREAT. I have put off shopping for years because I just don’t want
to purchase those clothes with the flowers and animals printed on the front.
With all the fuller figured people in the world you’d think that by now the
manufacturers would do better. If you can’t find a, "Just My Size", store then
tulips, roses, rabbits, bears and Disney characters are what we have to choose
from. My husband is always asking me to get something new for myself and has
often offered to take me to NY to shop. Girlfriend when I can, I am going to JC
Penny’s right here at home. I can’t wait to get into a nice business suit with
some 3 inch heels. With my flat feet, the term no pain no gain will certainly
make it’s mark. I yearn to get into a pair of stockings with the little garter
instead of pulling and tugging on 4x panty hose. Life will be GREAT. I have 3
grown daughters, 7 grand children and 1 great grand child. I want to hear them
say, grandma you look good instead of hearing, boy the world is Round.

My husband is taking me to New York on my New Birthday this year (7/3/2002),
to do clothes shopping. Tickets are already purchased and I am just to take
empty suitcases. I hope to be at goal 145lbs by than, I am 195lbs today
from 283lbs from my new brithday.

I too have a wonderful husband who is very supportive and has been so
helpful since the surgery. He was one of those who said I don’t need
anybody at the hospital with me, but I didn’t listen my Mom and a friend of
ours went to hang out with him during the surgery. He was a nervous wreck
and it only took 2 hours. The reason I am writing is I went to our local
support group the other night and I got really pissed off, there is a
retired Dr. there that has had the surgery and we go around the room and
everyone tells a little bit of there story. This man monopolizes the
meeting, he feels he can diagnose everyone. It got to me and I said I
hadn’t had any problems and everything was great. He procedes to tell me I
am doing something wrong I am too happy. I am not getting in my protien he
said or I am getting too many calories. I got pissed and then depressed. I

didn’t need to go to a SUPPORT group meeting to get depressed. Everyone
else the told they were depressed and they needed medication. One lady was
upset she has lost 150# and out of nowhere her husband of 22 years tells her

he wants a divorce. Her world is falling apart and he(Dr. Doom) tells her
she is too emotional she needs to double her anti-depression meds. I
couldn’t believe this man, I complained to the meeting director and told
them that is enough to make people not come back. I wasn’t going to go back

but decided instead I am going back and I am going to say something about
his unsolicited medical advise and I am not there to be diagnosed.
I am there for myself and those around me. I couldn’t be happy I don’t have
diabetes or high blood pressure anymore or that I have lost 31# in less than

a month. Thank God we have those positive people in our lives.
