Yvonne

Hey, Yvonne…

When I had my colonoscopy, I got to do the prep on my birthday…great
way to spend it. Was on clear liquids all day and at 3, I had to take a dose
of Phospho-soda and then take another at 6. I could drink the entire time,
up until midnight, but it had to be clear. I could have nothing red or no
orange juice. When my mom had hers done she had to do magnesium citrate.

Did your doctor not tell you that you had to do a prep? If he didn’t tell
you to do a prep, then I guess you don’t have to. I had to do the
phospho-soda the day before my colonoscopy, my barium enema, and my gastric
bypass.

Good luck!

    Hi Michelle,

Guess I worded my message wrong. I have the instructions for the Colonoscopy,
in fact I am on my way as we speak. I wanted to know if I have to go through
the same procedure right before the WLS.

    Thanx darling,

I already contacted this group. They won’t touch state agencies but gave me
    some referrals.

    Thanx again,

I am a Pre-Paid Legal member and decided to send an email asking them for
assistance. I reviewed a site about insurance law and found this:

    What is Medicaid?
Medicaid is a joint state and federal program of public assistance to eligible
people, regardless of age, whose income and resources are insufficient to pay
    for health care.

    · What does it mean to be Medically Necessary?
Many insurance policies will only pay for treatment that is deemed medically
necessary. For instance, many policies will not cover plastic surgery for
cosmetic purposes. Ask your agent whether the company or physician determines
medical necessity under the policy, and ask for examples of what is and is not

    considered medically necessary treatment.

We all feel that the surgery IS medically necessary so I am asking my lawyer to
look into this for me and others like me.
