6 mo out 100 lbs down : can I be this lucky?

I have lost 103 lbs so far, I started out at 342 and now I am at
238.2.

I am 33 and have been fat since kindergarten. All my life people
would say to me "Have you lost weight" even if I was heavier than the
last time they saw me. If I had a dollar for everytime someone
said "You aren’t that big" I could have had the surgery years ago!!

People are really starting to notice the weight loss now and even
though I am just a little under where some of you all started, I feel
sort of guilty when someone of size asks me if I have lost weight.
Lots of these people have little or no insurance and for one reason
or another are not eligible for Medicaid. How can i really expect to
be lucky enough to even lose one more pound.

I also am realizing that I MUST change my sense of humor. At 300 when
you say certain things you are the life of the party but at 200 you
sound condescending. At at 150 it will probably be downright
snobbish. It is so hard to make myself understand that I am not that
woman anymore…

Of course you can be this lucky, and your "window of opportunity" (if
that exists) is still open - Just keep doing what you’ve been doing.

Peggy, don’t let your guilt get in the way of your weight loss - you’ve
got more to go, and this is something you’ve done for yourself. I can’t
say that "if the others really wanted the surgery, they’d get it"
because I don’t know what their circumstances are, but there will be
many people who say they want to lose the weight, but who are not
willing to go through what it would take to do it - insurance, no
    insurance, medicaid or not.

You can’t focus on them, because even you don’t know what’s going on
inside their heads and their families. All you can focus on is you, and
if they’re not joyfully happy for you, then I’d wonder at the
    "friendship."

And you’ve done a wonderful job so far, and as far as I can tell, will
continue to do so. I think it’s super!
