I use Designer Whey protein powder with milk. skim milk has about 8g
protein and one scoop has 17.5 grams (about 25g total). I like the
vanilla, although I do not care much for shakes. some health food
stores also sell protein bars (Pimican)that do not contain that
imitation chocolate (which I also do nto like), but are sometimes
high in calories Hope it helps!
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help with a protein
question.. I have a hard time doing my 40g minimum to a preferebly
80g of protein that my doctor recommends and would so much like to
take it in a PILL form, so does anybody take any protein pills you
can recommend to me? the powder my doc recommended just does not
agree with me nor do the protein bars.In looking around the web for
protein pills I found one place that had 2000 but now I recently
found out that it is mg and not g’s so now I am more confused than
ever!!! please help

Bettina and Shelley:
Hey guys! Just wanted to see how you’ve been. Since I went back to
work I haven’t had much time to post. I do lurk briefly and read
though. It’s as informative as always. How are you guys doing?
Shelley, I read about your hiking with your son. Way to go
girl!!!!!!!! I’m so happy for you.
Bettina, are you feeling better? Up and about? Let me know. I’d
love to schedule a chat with you guys.
AND HI TO MICHELLE TOO, who shares mine and Bettina’s date. How are
you feeling?? I feel great. I’d love to know what you’re eating
though. I get kindof bored.
Hope to hear from you guys.

Hello Everyone:
I have been overweight my entire life and I am considering having the
Gastic Bypass Surgery. I am 33 years old. If you have had the
surgery, I would love to hear your experiences. I would like to know
how long the surgery actually takes? how long you are in the hospital?
how long you are out of work? I have seen articles in the newspaper
that say that recovery time is 3-7 days now. Did you get sick after
the surgery? Has anyone had surgery at UNC-Hospitals in Chapel Hill
NC. If so how long is the actual process. I have an appointment in
February, just wondering when I could possibly have the surgery. I
called my insurance company(Cigna) and as long as it is medically
necessary, it is 100 percent covered. Thanks for any information
that you can give me. I am so tired of being FAT!!!
I was wondering if anyone had any excersice tips for the belly and arms. I have
lost 70lbs since june 2002 and am experiencing the hangy belly and arms and am
afraid of my face getting hangy as well…
I had lost some weight before surgery… then lost 49lbs so far after. My weight
loss is slow, but that is how i prefer it. I lose around 2-3 lbs a week. Afraid
that if it comes off any faster that i will be hanging around all over the
place. Or that the old saying that the faster it comes off the quicker it will
come back thing will apply…
Any ideas??
I just want to tone my muscles.

-49lbs
Hello, all. I am in the process of going through all the medical hoops in
order to get approval from insurance, and the doctor to do gastric bypass
laproscopically. Having lost weight on various diets, only to gain it back
with a vengeance, I am hoping that the surgery will finally provide a tool,
aid, and be a physical catalyst to being not only able to lose, but to keep
it off.
I would like those of you, both newbies and veterans, to answer a simple
question. What is it about the surgery that has enabled you to keep off the
weight, as opposed to other programs of weight loss?
I have proved over and over that I can lose weight if I stick to almost any
program, some of which are diametrically opposite of each other. What is it
about getting this surgery that will make it less likely that I will tire of
low-carb eating and gradually gain it back. I think that is my biggest

I’m a new member here and it’s really interesting reading all the
posts because they all have something of what I want. My real name
is Pepe and I live near Miami, Fla. There I have chosen to do my
Gastrix Bypass Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial
Hospitals. I’ve taken a few of the required exams already for surgery
approval and will keep taking them until there is nothing left but
me, the surgeon and the operating room.
I am temporarily disabled and I was wondering if any of you used your
Medicare Parts A & B for the exams and the operation. I don’t have
Medicaid and no other insurance other than the Medicare. The doctors
nurse and the Billings lady both say that they will cover everything,
and to resubmited if they do not approve it at first.
Can any of you who have had similar situations like me with Medicare,

I am in the process of beginning my journey. Have chosen a doctor
and received the packet to fill out. Now I just have to find the
money for the procedure and find a support group. Does anyone know
about a group in Denver, preferably the northwest quadrant? Thanks.
