6 mo out 100 lbs down : can I be this lucky?

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

I have lost 103 lbs so far, I started out at 342 and now I am at
238.2.

I am 33 and have been fat since kindergarten. All my life people
would say to me "Have you lost weight" even if I was heavier than the
last time they saw me. If I had a dollar for everytime someone
said "You aren’t that big" I could have had the surgery years ago!!

People are really starting to notice the weight loss now and even
though I am just a little under where some of you all started, I feel
sort of guilty when someone of size asks me if I have lost weight.
Lots of these people have little or no insurance and for one reason
or another are not eligible for Medicaid. How can i really expect to
be lucky enough to even lose one more pound.

Hello to everyone

I am just beginning my journey in seeking weight-loss surgery. I
have investigated several different procedures and I think the RNY is
the one for me. However, this could be subject to change depending
on my insurance and the Doctors that are available in my area. I am
in Richmond, Virginia and it seems that we are pretty limited here in
our selections of physicians. I am terrified of this whole
adventure, but I also look forward to a better quality of life
afterwards. I was previously interested in the DS surgery, however,
I am not sure about that since I would have to travel to Northern
Virginia and deal with Docs and hospitals that I know absolutely
nothing about. Just looking to chat with people that are in the same
boat as me, or the lucky ones who can say they have been there and
done that…and would do it all over again. *smile*

I happened upon this group while doing a search and read the messages

Hey, Yvonne…

When I had my colonoscopy, I got to do the prep on my birthday…great
way to spend it. Was on clear liquids all day and at 3, I had to take a dose
of Phospho-soda and then take another at 6. I could drink the entire time,
up until midnight, but it had to be clear. I could have nothing red or no
orange juice. When my mom had hers done she had to do magnesium citrate.

Did your doctor not tell you that you had to do a prep? If he didn’t tell
you to do a prep, then I guess you don’t have to. I had to do the
phospho-soda the day before my colonoscopy, my barium enema, and my gastric
bypass.

Good luck!

Great WWW Carb Site!

Good Evening Everyone!

During one of my breaks today at work I was smurfing around on the
internet looking for low carb recipes. As much as I LOVE steak, pork
and chicken – I can’t stand it anymore! To top that all off, for
some reason I’m starving today, I mean really starving. I have no
idea what that’s all about since I’ve been doing so well for the last
few weeks.

I woke up at 11:45pm last night because my stomach felt `goofy’. It
took me nearly two hours to go back to sleep and in that interim I
must have burped 150 times! I don’t know what was going on, I just
know when my alarm went off at 4pm I had pretty sincere thoughts
about watching it bounce off of the walls.

Is anyone getting a stupid email from SparkLIST.com about your message not
being coded correctly or something after you send yet your email goes
through?
