Comments on: before WLS??????

Just wanted to know, when they put a scope down your throte to check
your inside before the WLS……..do they put you asleep to do the
procedure …….or are you awake for it?? If anyone had this done
please let me know what the procedures are…….im terrified to get
this done awake!!!!!!!!thanks

When I had the EGD or Endoscopy, I was given a pill to relax me a bit, and as
was previously stated by someone else they numbed my throat, but I was wide
awake for this test. I am gager but I was able to do this. It is just a
little akward for a few minutes and then it was all over.

also, my mother had a scope put down her throat before to check things out..
(just a test, not for gastricbypass or anything) and she said they numbed the
back of her throat real good, but she was awake during the procedure… i think
if you have a problem with it, you might be able to ask them if they can give ya
something to calm ya or something.. i just dont know.. the only thing you can do
is ask.. but i am sure someone else on this list might know though… good luck
though..
