10 hours and counting

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

In 10 hours I will be at the hospital (UCSF Medical Center) getting ready for
surgery. My surgery is schuled for 12:30pm. Of course we all know what that may
mean perhaps 1or 1:30pm.

Pre-op took all day last Thursday from 10am to 5:30pm. Long and tiring. Things
went as expected, the only problem was with the NP whom I at the end to make
sure everything will be alright for surgery. She keep saying I should not have
the surgery, I did not look that big, not a good thing to do. After I told her
my bmi was 52 she did not say another word. Isn’t it funny how others look at
WLS even those in the medical profession.

I will not know if I will be having lap or open. The doctors hoping to do lap,
the NP said to be prepared for open. She said people like me with several
surgeries in the area "they" end up with an open surgery. I am not worried about
it, God is taking care of me and thru Him the surgeon will make the correct

Hey,
Well I’ve never posted on here but I like to listen to what everyone
has to say, I finally got my consultation date, I’ve been waiting for
almost 4 months for this. Its Jan 7, 2004. There are very few doctors
in Canada that do it, but just having a date is very exciting!!!
Thanks for listening.

Saturday, November 12th, 2005

Hello group,
i havent posted in a while i am hardly on my computer but i do have a
question. I had my surgery on november 8th 2002 which was a few
months ago and i was wondering how long do the platues last. Since my
surgery i have only lose 74 pounds and for a month i am stuck at 294
(i was 364)is this normal. people have lose more weight than i have
in a almose 4 month time so i am feeling depressed. When i first had
the surgery is when i have lose the more weight. So can i hear from
people who have experience this same thing what did you do to pass
the depression of not losing anymore.
Thank you,
Mary Ann

Just some thoughts and such…

Of those that have had the surgery and lost weight, how does that make you feel?
It was brought to my attention by a friend of mine, that she is worried about
me, cause i had told her that it didnt matter how much weight i lost, (which is
67 after surgery and around 89 total for before and after) that i still feel
fat. That when i look into the mirror, i still see the same person as if i were
337 again. I told her that i see every inch of fat on my body and i HAVE to get
it ALL off. Granted, i do see a bit of change in being able to get out of bed
and up off the couch cause of my weight loss. It IS much easier. Before i could
barely reach around to wipe myself. I know that sounds gross, but i was just at
that point. I can now. So i DO see some things that have changed. But when i
look into the mirror, i see every inch of fat that needs to come off. My husband
gets on to me at times, cause he says that i dont eat enough. Granted, he knows
i can eat very little, but says i seldom eat. I feel like i eat all the time.
But now that i look at things, for instance, today, all i have had is 3 french
fries, 1 small nibble of a hamburger, 1 bite of noodles, and 1 small bite of

8 days and counting?

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

I have been sooo busy with work it is tax time and things are getting busy. I
have two positions at H&R Block I am a Tax Advisor and a CSC (receptionist).

I received a call from my surgeon’s office on Tuesday (2/18) to say they did not
have my new insurance information. This of course distressed me since my surgery
is in 8 days March 3rd. The information I faxed over was somehow "lost" and not
in my chart. This is something I have learned to expected from this office
as of late. I gave the information to Randy over the phone and then faxed over a
copy again. Randy is new to this equation (he has taken over from Roxanne) to my
dismay the original ins. info. was sent and given to Roxanne in January. I
contacted my insurance on Tuesday morning to find they had no info. about me.
As of Friday, I called and talked to the office manager, I told her that if the
surgery was not approved before my pre-op date (Thursday, 2/27) I was not going
to go through the pre-op again just to have the surgery cancelled again.

HI EVERYONE, I’M NEW AND I WILL BE HAVING MY SURGERY MARCH 7TH 2003!
I RIGHT NOW WEIGHT IN AT 241 AND I’M 5′2. MY BMI IS 44. I GO TO THE
GYM 3-4 TIMES A WEEK AN CAN WALK A MILE AND A HALF, DO 600 STEPS IN
SEVEN MINUTES AND THAT’S AFTER DOING MY STEP CLASS WHICH IS
30MINUTES. AND EVEN AFTER ALL THAT I STILL AM FAT!! SO THIS IS WHY
I NEED THIS SURGERY. ‘CAUSE I’VE BROKEN MY ANKLES FOUR DIFFERENT
TIMES AND I HAVE BACK PROBLEMS, TOO ALONG WITH OTHERS MEDICAL
PROBLEMS. BUT REALLY I KNOW THAT THIS WILL BE A LIFESAVING TOOL FOR
ME NOT TO FOLLOW IN MY FAMILY’S FOOTSTEPS. SO , I SAY GOOLUCK TO ALL

Hi, Lisa! You’re right at just over 2 weeks out now, so where you’re at doesn’t
surprise me at all. I barely ate anything when I was that far out. I was not
able to do my full water (still can’t and I’m 3 months out, although I am
getting better. Problems with getting air in the pouch.). I am able to get my
protein drinks down. I find that the ones I like the very best are Proscore100
Choc and Champion Pure Whey Stack choc, one scoop of each mixed in 6 oz of water
with a cube or so of ice. Tastes just like OTC chocolate milk to me, and
although thicker than water, it’s not so thick that it gags me going down. My
doc gave us samples of soemthing that tasted AWFUL - there was no way I’d gag
that stuff down. It was about 2 weeks out before I could get the whole protein
drink down in about 30 minutes. Before that I’d have to make halfsies.

You can get samples of these drinks (if you’re interested) at
www.vitalady.com - so that you don’t have to buy the whole container until you
figure out if you like it. I understand that www.netrition.com has them (the
