DC area surgeon
Hello,
I have been on this list for about 6 months or so, and am hopefully heading
toward Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y surgery, though open would be okay with me.
However, after having gone through all the required pre-tests and hoops,
submitting all my referrals, history, etc., I was told that the surgeon no
longer accepts Aetna UShealthcare HMO (presumably because he is paid from
them less than the surgery costs). They are trying to "negotiate" a special
deal for just me with Aetna, but there are no guarantees. Is there anyone
on this list that might be able to recommend a surgeon in the DC area that
takes Aetna USHealthcare HMO. In my preliminary search for a surgeon before
I arrived at Dr. Barry Greene, it was difficult to find a surgeon who
accepted Aetna.
Thanks,

Danny, have you gone through the posts on
www.obesityhelp.com ?
The problem with insurances is that fewer and fewer are wanting to cover
this procedure. _ I ‘ve just been reading on another list that the same
aetna insurance that covered a woman’s husband last year has her jumping
through hoops this year.
