Mia’s in my prayers
Today, I was checking out other websites..and as morbid as it may seem i was
checking out all the memorial sites as well..I found it disturbing that Mia’s
compllication is not a new one. Neither is peritonitis or pulmonary embolism. So
I am praying HARD that this will pass in Mia’s case, and now I am scared to
think there may be the possiblity that this could happen to me as well..

Erin, there’s always a certain percentage of surgery problems… and we’re
sicker than most people when we go in - however, the statistics are that
it’s only a small percentage of people who have these problems. My doc hs
had only 1/2 of 1 percent die on the table, and those were because of
co-morbidities. I guess it’s always one of those questions we all have to
answer… do we take a chance now, knowing the percentages going in, or do
we continue in our path to death through obesity?
And… David Bloom, the ABC news analyst, just died at 39 from a pulmonary
embolism - without bypass surgery.
This is the reason we always suggest you get up and walk as soon as you can.
Move those feet in little circles, to keep the clots from building.
Since I got the announcement of Mia not on this list, but on GBIC, I’ll
crosspost my answer there, as well as your message.

Mia and Chuck are a devoted married couple who are on another GBS list.
Chuck had his surgery a week ago, open, and Mia just had hers, lap.
Unfortunately Mia had a nick on her bowel, and developed peritonitis.
Fortunately, she was still in the hospital. This is a fairly serious
complication and totally unexpected. It’s rare. She seems to be improving
and will be in the hospital for a long stay to be sure they’ve gotten it all
taken care of. The original request was for prayers for Mia -
