Obesity surgery

My name is Rich and I live in Green Bay, WI. I’m scheduled to have
an open gastric bypass on April 8th. I’m really nervous.

I am wondering if there is anyone out there that had back problems prior to
LAP RNY surgery. If so, could you share any observations you have as to the
effects both good and bad and short and long term that the surgery had on
your back problems. I have a bulging disk in my back and combined with my
sciatic nerve in my leg, it is sometimes painful to walk. One area of
anxiety I have is it being made worse because of the surgery, or at the very
least making recovery more difficult because of the pain of walking. I am
sure long-term, getting the weight off will be of benefit to my back
situation, but I am more concerned about the short-term effects.
